Re: Recovery Progress Reports for Hysterectomy dates Jan 09-Jan 15,2012

Today is 4 weeks since my LSH , and my 1st day back at work /13 hour day out of the house. I have felt pretty much back to normal since last week , and no one at work can believe I even had surgery . Bowel pains gone since last week , no swelly belly . I should have had my period around now and so far no pain, and no more IBS since surgery ! I had found out my colon was stuck to my uterus by endo and adhesions. It explains the last 34 years . I am so grateful to my surgeon who did it with only 1 scope site . My recovery has been pretty easy and relatively pain free . SILS ROCKS!!

So the next few days I must have gained a lot of strength cause I have been ok and physically busy and ok. But now I am stressed out! Trying to remember that inside I am still healing and I can't do certain things. Having to look for another job, while still working this one. Driving myself to places to hand in my resume, kids are sick. And I just applied for online collage classes. I just wish I had been told about my job, later after 6 weeks or so. So I could stay focused on healing and not looking for a job! Plus who is going to want to hire a woman who is still healing from a hysterectomy?! That's a great way to end a interview, by the way, I just had a hysterectomy 3 weeks ago! So I am limited for a few more weeks! Sure when can you start?! My mother in law insists that I need to start some kind of medication, I feel fine, my ovary is working! I just have too much on my plate! I just had major surgery and losing my job! Two very life changing and very stressful events happening at the same time!!!!! I just need a break! Thanks for letting me vent! Ps, losing my medical insurance too! Not good after having such a serious surgery!
As a manager , I wouldn't tell your prospective employers that you are recovering from a hysterectomy - its not their business and it's not relevant to you being hired . Why would you tell them ? It comes out sounding like you are giving an excuse as to why you may not be 100% , and no one wants less than 100% when they are hiring . Good luck though - it must be extremely stressful for you to be in this position .

To apples 74 and the other lady commenting on your insides falling out. I really suggest you get a supportive pair of panties or girdle type garment. I bought them off this sight and it is the perfect amount of support to hold everything snug and helps me get around I do fold it down a little I don't kie it to cover my belly button. I tired the belly binder but I am too small for it I have a 31 inch waist and the x small still rolls and twist so I am going to modify it when I get ready to do lifting. This brings comfort when I am up walking around.

Just wondering if I am overreacting. My surgery was ja11 but I went back in to reapir the vagianl wall ligelment on the 27 so I have been really off my feet for a month. I feel great. Not really tired but obred and trying ot take it easy. My problem is that my right calf feels weird. Not painful just crampy and tingles some times and soemtimes foot seems to fall asleep. Has anyone else felt this. Told my gym and he said to stop the hormone bC for a week. The direction on the BC said don't use three weeks before major surgeryor two weeks after especially if yu are on bed rest. So now I worry blood clot forming. How long do I wait to see?

Get a heating pad and use it for the back pain. You can use ice up front if the heat bothers the surgery.

Use a heating pad on your badk to hel counter the soreness from not using it.

I'm a little late with this, since I discoved this site after surgery. I had a TLAVH, including extensive prolapse repair on January 8. My doctor told me that alone took 100 stitches.

The surgery & hospital stay was a good experience, other than the fact that I felt dehydrated all the time and drank enough water for an elephant, even though I had IV's. I only needed to take pain meds until day 3. I couldn't believe how great I felt!

Now I'm back to my normal routine. I tried running a little on the treadmill (Big mistake), but found out I still need to be careful, even though I feel good.

You really need to wait the six weeks before running but you could take longer walks?

Then I read other doctors say still no driving yet. My son and husband are beginning to get tired of doing the heavy lifting (garbage, vacuum, etc) so I am glad this isn't all in my head. I feel bad asking them to help (and I shouldn't feel badly, I know)! I was actually out for 2 hours yesterday and that was enough. Today I was out for 4 hours and I know I will sleep well tonight. I am walking very slowly but upright and with only a little twinge here and there. All the trips to the car to bring in "light" bags of groceries is a pain. Literally. Still have swelly belly in the evenings - what is that? Anyone know?
Perfectly normal that swelly belly. It will be worse on days you overdue it so really don't lift things or bend over to pick things up off the ground it is still gonna pull stitches.
use a ice pack or use the support underware it seems to help my swelling.

Had my follow up at 4 weeks and am healing beautifully he says. Night sweats and a few hot flashes so he put me on Estradiol 1 mg pills.

Thanks,
