Would it be at all possible for you to go to work and sit on a chair with a pillow- call it your throne - and watch everyone while you tell them what to do? When my husband teases me (he is nice about it) about not doing things - I just tell him when he has HIS uterus and ovaries taken out he can take as long as he wants to recover. Tell your doctor that one. What a jerk. Does he think he is helping you? Hmm "Do no harm..."

I am 4 weeks post-op today. Now that I am feeling very close to normal ( or NEW normal) I am anxious to see how I feel when it's time for what would have been my period.
Prior to surgery, I was having EXCRUCIATING gastrointestinal problems during my period due to the adenomyosis - not to mention to absolutely horrible menstrual cramps and bleeding.

Bimmerwoman...I am on FMLA and can legally take 12 weeks off a year. I have medical insurance through work, but not any disability insurance. I only have one kidney, and when I applied for it 6 years ago....when I started with the company....short term disability denied me! If they only knew that I run around better than my 20 year olds do. I'm not getting paid right now, but that is ok. I just want to heal right!

I am currently on paid disability leave. I was initially VERY worried about the amount of time the disability company would approve. Anyway, they very williingly approved me to be off 6 weeks with full pay. However, they said any additional time off, WITH PAY, would require specific documentation from my doctor and subsequent approval. With that said, I have two weeks left and I think I'll be ready to return to work by then.

2 Questions for the DaVinci sisters...
1) Did you have any incisions that were "indented"? I had two that were indented about 1/2 inch from the stomach surface as if someone pushed it with their thumb. The other three were flat with my stomach. I ask because I now the indented two are becoming more even with my stomach.

2) If yes for #1, are they still indented or starting to raise to be even with the rest of your stomach? I cannot figure out if the change in indention is because they are healing and returning to normal, because swelly belly is raising them, or if I have overdone something.

Any thoughts?

Eynow....I have 5 incisions from da vinci. 4 lay flat with stomach. The only one that appears pushed in is my belly button incision. I think that they should all eventually lay flat.

Eynow...I also have 5 incisions. However, none of mine look indented. Could it just be the way your scar tissue healed?

My OB/GYN told me Monday that I am acting like I was split open from my breasts to below my belly button......he said I had da vinci surgery and it is very invasive, and that I should have been back to work at week 1. Typing this out, NOW I know why my blood pressure is elevated!!! I'm just very MAD!! OB/GYN said I need some Xanax cause I am just stressing myself out.....no he is stressing me out. All I want to do is CRY!!!! I already feel like a failure, because apparently I am not healing fast enough. You ladies are wonderful, and I'm so glad I can vent to y'all. At least y'all understand where I am coming from. LOTS OF LOVE TO ALL OF YOU!!!
Susan, cry if you want to. It is soothing and will release stress. Ever seen one of those dolls that you can pull off the legs and arms, etc.? I think that they're for bad bosses. Get one and name him after your doc. LOL! More seriously, glad that you have understanding employees. Just let them know that you need to lean a little extra on them for a while. Their support will help you feel better. And for sure, get a new oby-gyn. Oy! Hang in there! xo!

Re: Recovery Progress Reports for Hysterectomy dates Jan 09-Jan 15,2012

Today I am at the 4 week mark. Yay ME! I feel great. No complaints at all. It's still difficult to sit up for long periods of time, but it's getting better. I'm almost done with my 2000 piece puzzle (a first for me....might turn into a hobby since I'm really enjoying it). With the 6 weeks of 100% paid disability and the sick paid mandatory 7day waiting period I have 3 more weeks off work. I go to the doctor next week for my 2nd appt. if she tells me I'm able to go back at week 6 and not 7 I just might do it. I miss my team. I manage a great team of managers and area managers. Just before I went out, my company announced layoffs. I was spared, but a few of my managers were not. My team is so close even though we all reside in different states. I'm worried about the morale and for the two that were impacted. I know, I know I need to take care of myself, which I am...but I can't help but care for my team... They are awesome and I'm lucky to get to work with such a fantastic group of individuals.

Re: Recovery Progress Reports for Hysterectomy dates Jan 09-Jan 15,2012

Had my 4wk post Surgical checkup today. The fatigue is annoying but the surgeon says it can take several months for my energy level to return.
Also having problems with insomnia and random crying jags that hit me out of nowhere. He's bumping my Patch up to 2. He seems to think that will resolve it.
There was some discussion about resuming intercourse. He said I'm healing great but not until 6 weeks. He told us some surgeons (he was quick to say not him!) have reported problems where intercourse has actually torn some of the cervical cuff stitches and caused an opening into the gut area. I said that doesn't sound good. He replied, No, especially when there have been cases reported where a loop of intestine actually falls down through it and dangles out of the vagina. OMG
I caught the look of absolute horror on my husband's face and all I could think was, well that just capped it. My man will never touch me again! Thanks Doc! sigh
