Re: Recovery Progress Reports for Hysterectomy dates Jan 09-Jan 15,2012
Just got home from seeing my internal medicine doc....who is female...I let her know how my gyn treated me and everything he said! She was very upset with him. I sat there and cried like a baby. My blood pressure is elevated. She told me to go to my last appointment with him on the 22nd, and then we would work on finding me a new gyn that she knows. She thinks I am not getting enough estrogen as well. She looked up the estrogen gel that I am taking and said that I'm taking the maximum dosage. I have an appt with her on the 23rd, and she said that she will control my HRT so I no longer have to deal with him. Thank God for answered prayers!! She is a wonderful doctor. Hope everyone is doing well.

You have got to be kidding me. Tha dr telling you that after week one you should be back to work? I don't think so. You had major surgery our dr's here won't even let me be in a car for fear I will get in a accident and be hurt. Anyting more then three hours of desk work one month out is still too much for me and my dr agrees. My heart goes out to you. Listen to your body so you can heal.

Re: Recovery Progress Reports for Hysterectomy dates Jan 09-Jan 15,2012
It has been four weeks since I had laproscopic surgery and, since week two, I have had light bleeding. I didn't need any pain meds and I have been up and about from day one. But I have been doing housework and yard work, could this be the cause of the bleeding. It's nothing compared to what I went through before the hysterectomy but I'm wondering if anyone else has this going on.

Sqooshy,
I've had the same. Just had my 4wk check up today. He did an internal and said I still have a little bleeding and a few still visible stitches on the cervical cap. He had told me when I started bleeding that the stitches cause irritation as they break down and are flushed out. That is what causes the bleeding, mucus discharge and sometimes bad odor.
As for doing too much. I guess it depends on what you are doing. If you think you might be overdoing it, try pulling back and resting for a day or two. If it seems to cut back the bleeding, then you probably were doing more than you body is ready to handle.

Re: Recovery Progress Reports for Hysterectomy dates Jan 09-Jan 15,2012
Thank you ladies for being so supportive!! I saw on another thread that they refer to one another as faceless angels.....isn't that the truth! We didn't know each other 4 weeks ago, but now we do! It is like writing in a diary, and someone responds back with ways to help. I know that a lot I have put on here, I have not shared with anyone else....afraid that they would make some smart comment. What a wonderful site to bring us all together, and give us hope of another day that is going to get better!! Thanks sisters for all your support. How wonderful it is to be crying and typing, and getting warmth to make it through!!!!

Re: Recovery Progress Reports for Hysterectomy dates Jan 09-Jan 15,2012
tomorrow will be my 4 week hysterversary. I feel pretty normal except:
- fatigue
- I move a little more slowly than I'd like, but MUCH fater each day
- I'm only sore when sleeping on my left side
- I am READY for some sex with the mister...but obviously I'm not going to
- I still have no appetite but I force myself to eat.
- I am not lifting anything more than 10lbs
I have had no strange discharge since late in week 2 post op. I have no problems sleeping. I have no real pain to speak of...just some mild cramping if I do too much and some mild tenderness if I touch or press on my incisions.
Cannot WAIT until my 4 week f/u appt. on Monday.

Re: Recovery Progress Reports for Hysterectomy dates Jan 09-Jan 15,2012
Susan C - I feel for you. Men can be so insenstive. They can't even imagine what we go through or handle the challenges we can. You probably should look into getting another GYN. Fortunately my PCP and GYN are both female. Awesome women. Their patient skills are wonderful. I had a different PCP for years (male). I was severly anemic, nauseated, bloated, migraines, dizziness, monthly flooding, etc... He pretty much made it to be my fault that I was anemic and threatened that if "I" didn't get it under control then I would have to have a transfusion. Between the time for my next follow up. I did my research and hired a new physician. My new PCP diagnosed the problem almost immediately (enormous fibroids & polyps), did her due diligence and I had surgery within a few months. You don't have to put up with bad service.
If you feel you need to take more time to heal, then it would be better for you and your employer. If you go back too soon and have an issue that you have to be out again, that would not be good for either of you (especially you). You should truly take care of yourself. You are all you have. I pray you all the best to get through your challenges.
