I still have incision pain but it comes and goes . Love that heating pad! Tried acupuncturist. Great for all parts of the body but ilioinguinal nerve and stomach pain soooo I'm getting trigger point injections every 3 weeks. Had to have bot my folks in the hospital at different times recently but as of today they are both in a skilled nursing facility as of today! I'm going to try to rest.

Always nice hearing from the sisters! TKW1, that is great that you lost weight! I gained 8 pounds after surgery, and still can't shake it. Otters, that is so great that you can run that far. I haven't been doing much exercise, my physical job takes so much out of me, I haven't really done much else exercise-wise. Ready, you poor thing--another month of antibiotics! I only had to take them for 10 days. I had asked my surgeon and gyno on 3 different occasions about a urine test. They all said I didn't need one. Finally my gastro Dr. ordered one (the only one since my surgery) and it showed UTI. I am still searching for answers..My colonoscopy came back negative. My gastro Dr. ordered an abdominal ultrasound and endoscopy which are in next few weeks. He told me to take Nexium and my GP said to take one of the probiotics (the "good" kind of bacteria that you want lining your intestines instead of the bad). It helps people with irritable bowel and ulcers. I have been on it 2 weeks; I am still very distended, but my pains seem to have lessened in severity. I had the GP feel where my stomach is hard. He thought that it might be stool that was trapped;said the CAT scan and colonoscopy wouldn't show that. I also showed him another place that often hurts. He said that is where my intestines arch and there might be something trapped in those corners. After the colonoscopy prep, I think, what could possibly still be trapped? Very weird! Sorry this is so long--just wanted to say hello to all and explain about my tests. If this next round comes back negative, I am going to assume it was just irritable bowel syndrome and leave it at that.

Sorry to hear, Fiftysomething, you are not doing as well as you should. That hopefully comes to an end, soon.
During the last 14 weeks I've lost more then 24 lbs, thanks Weight Watchers and although I'm doing my usual exercises five times a week, it hurt sometimes pretty much. Especially when I tried to go by bicycle and also after my first Zumba lesson, I had to take a one week break from sports coz there was a burning sensation for days.
Ok my own fault. The Gyn told me, this kind of pain can be normal for 6-12 months and I read it here often, too.
But I'm so lucky having my life back and my skin needs all help it can get for shrinking, not to forget my back, which needs lots of sports because of a massive scoliosis.
But everything will get well at the end. That's what I believe. God bless you. Bye from Germany. Housito

Re: Recovery Progress Reports for Hysterectomy dates Jan 16-Jan 22,2012

Hey ladies. I saw my doctor last week. He did some blood work and my hormone levels have all bottomed out so we can finally try a little estrogen to see if it will help my severe anxiety and depression that I have had for so long. Happy to report that after 1 week of taking the most low dose possible I am feeling such a peace come over me. My hormones have been so out of control for so long, I am can hardly believe that this might actually be working!!!
I am still struggling with severe fatigue which is hindering my daily routines, but I am hopeful that time and more healing will correct that.
Doc thinks that the abdominal cramping is a bowel issue because (after examining me) he said everything has healed very nicely (the procedure he did a few months ago to correct the stitches that didn't heal right fixed the problem-hooray!) and the only thing left that could be causing the problem is my bowels.
HOUSITO - awesome about the weight loss!! I have gained about 10 pounds since the surgery (the doc says the fatigue and depression are to blame) and I really want to follow your example.

FistsSista, I also gained more than 10 lbs after surgery and I'm happy to see the weight loss works although I'm struggling with hormons, too.
I'm on a natural estrogen since 3 months but have to stop taking it by the end of June coz my Gyn hopes, ovaries will have started working again.
All the best for you and the other lovely ladies here. Housito

Hi Ladies!! Tomorrow is six months and I feel mostly back to normal. Still some odd twinges here and there, and still think i feel the sling, but thankfully don't have pee leakng out all the time...I can even sneeze in safety! So that is definitely a success! Am trying to keep the weight I lost off but as i started eating more it started to come back...Housito that is great how much you have lost; maybe it is time to look at Weight Watchers for me!

Fifty...somebody mentioned the Visalus shakes a while ago; i am hearing more about them and a friend who has had kidney problem for years is feeling better than ever. They are supposed to be good for IBS too, i think. My hubby has IBS and it is no fun. i hope the probiotics help you get settled FINALLY!

Hope those still have significant problems start to get better soon!!! A friend who had her surgery 2 weeks after me is still having problems and not healed yet.

It's a beautiful summer day in Middle Tennessee and I need to get busy now. love to all!

Re: Recovery Progress Reports for Hysterectomy dates Jan 16-Jan 22,2012

Hello everyone!

After the 2 months of antibiotics I went back to Urogyn 7/2. I tried having sex once and it hurt where they removed the mesh in March. The Dr. couldn't see anything but could feel something pokey in the vaginal wall. It hurt so bad! To make a long story short, I am having another mesh revision surgery in 2 days. If this doesn't work, the Dr. will send me out of state for full sling removal where they will need to go in through my leg. I am back on antibiotics (30 day supply plus 2 refills) as they didn't want to risk another infection. I sure hope he doesn't get too close to my ovaries as if I start getting hot flashes again in this heat wave I will melt! I will post again soon and keep all of you posted.

Congrats to all of you on your recovery!

Happy 6 months, girls! WE MADE IT!!! Wishing you all the best on your continuing road of recovery. I know there have been big ups and downs for all of us. But we're all courageous. We did it! I still have weird little health things crop up like all of you: abdominal cramping from nerves waking up, constipation, hormone fluctuations (with me it has given me a heat rash off an on). But the good news is that we took action we thought was right for our health. We bravely faced our recoveries, death with complications, and did something to empower our lives. Big hugs to us all! XO
