Hi ladies! Happy New Year to all of you..

I was supposed to visit the Castle on Jan 3. but I fired my surgeon on Friday. I called to ask for 5 Ativan (anti-anxiety) pills prior to surgery. The nurse called back to say that "doctor" would not prescribe anything for my nerves and that if I did not have in writing to his office, a letter from my insurance company stating that I did not need a referral for surgery--my surgery on Jan 3 would be canceled!! I totally lost it. I couldn't even talk to her I was crying so hard. Had to hang up.

I have a PPO and don't need a referral. They knew this already because they would not have seen me last week if I needed one. Anyhow, to make a long story short, I will hear on Weds from another surgeon when I go into the Castle. Honestly, his office made me feel like I was only a business transaction, so I told them I made a business decision and decided to take my business elsewhere.

I went through 7 months of chemo for breast cancer and had the most wonderful doctors. Felt like we were a team working in my best interest. That's why I was so upset when this happened. You know what though, things definitely happen for a reason!!

Happy New Year to all of you wonderful ladies. Will post again as soon as I hear from Georgetown when surgery is scheduled.

Hugs, Peggy

Hi ladies! Happy New Year to all of you..

Oh wow.... that has to be awful to go through... If you are in VA I wonder if you could go to my doc? he was FANTASTIC... Actually I saw two of them one was a woman and she was FANTASTIC....(same office) email me if you want their names... They also took care of all the insurance stuff... even when my last day in the castle was denied...he called up and chewed butt!

Good luck with everything... and happy new year!

p.s.... that's my motto too...everything happens for a reason.. I think you made the right decision!

Hi ladies! Happy New Year to all of you..

I'm glad you fired your ! There are too many others to choose from! You really need support at this time. I, too, am a breast cancer survivor. It's been 14 years ago since my radical mastectomy. I didn't have chemo (my type of cancer would not respond to chemo) or any other treatment, because the surgeon was able to get all of it. I changed surgeons at the time I had breast cancer, because the first one thought I was crazy to think I had breast cancer at such a young age (33). I told him I knew I was a high risk, because my mother had breast cancer the year before. But he kept putting me off. I found a great surgeon to take his place!

My TAH/BSO is scheduled for the 9th. Let us know when you get re-scheduled! I'm having my ovaries removed because of cancer history in my family. No ovaries, tubes, uterus, cervix: no cancer worries for that part of my body!

Happy New Year!
