1 Week post-op and how I got here.
About 5 years ago I started noticing changes in my menstrual cycle. Iam 42 now. I have 4 children (21,15,14 & 7), my first born I had a Cescerean and with my last I also had one with tubal ligation. Anyhow, when I noticed the heavier periods I went in to my Gyno. and long story short had a D&C. Felt great for a while afterwards. Then around 2 years ago, my periods started acting up again, heavy and not to mention that I had awful migraines but I've always dealt with migraines since I can remember, but with the bleeding seemed to make it worse, plus I felt very week. So I saw a new Gyno, and then had the Novasure/Ablation. This was an outpatient procedure and after I recovered from that my periods were GREAT! Very, light NO cramping, where before I would always would take 800 Ibuprofren with the cramping. Well that was short lived. 6 months later the periods again were heavy and cramping came back. But I must say during that time, I was going through alot of stress so Im not sure if it had alot to do with my period problems. My hubby just started to work 3 weeks out of the month every month for at least a year in another country and only home for a week, then my oldest son joined the Marine corps. Needless to say I was a bundle of nerves and anxiety trying to adjust. Anyway, I had another ultrasound/transvaginal and all and it turned out that my uterus was "regrowing"? tissue in the linning! As if preparing for another baby or something. Crazy! Not to mention an enlarged uterus and abnormally positioned and tilted to the right. haha. So I was given an option, D&C or Hyster. I opted for D&C to get rid of the tissue and maybe helped for a few months until I started having crippling cramps like if I was in labor! Then my periods were lasting 10 days and I would start up again in 2 weeks. Not to mention the migraines that tagged along with it. Anyhow, back to my doctor I go and long story short I decided to go ahead with a TAH keeping ovaries. My uterus was way to large to go vaginally. Oh and just to say, I didn't want to do birth control because of risk of blood clots in legs, plus I take Migraine medication that would interfere with it and overall I just didn't like the way birth control pills made me feel when I did take them years ago. So now I'm 1 week post-op and feeling stronger everyday, however I woke up this morning feeling a little nauseous and has stayed throughout the day plus my senses seem very sensitive, kind of hard to explain but just kind of weird, but overall feeling better and my incision pain is dying down and now I'm able to sleep laying on my side which is nice. So now I'm enjoying the time with my hubby as he took off work for 3 weeks for me.
This is my story in a nutshell.
