Smile - Pelvic floor levator spasms Re: Pelvic floor levator spasms

Hey Chick68,
I have been silently following your story so far. Bless you sweetheart! I am going to see a pelvic pain specialist today. I feel I have muscle spasms of pelvic floor on one side, and have been researching the botox issue. Will let you know. Anyway, I am a nurse in a GI center, and there are meds they can start to assist your stomach in emptying. You did not mention that so I thought I would put that out there. You will get through this. I know it is frustrating sifting through all the riff raff to get to what helps, but you will. Another piece of advise...get rid of those butt sling folding chairs! Opt for the old fashioned ones with aluminum sides that open up in one direction and put a thick blanket in the bottom before you sit down. I do much better on harder surfaces than soft. Hope you have a better day!!

Re: Pelvic floor levator spasms

I have a question for all....post surgery I have had an overactive bladder and some leakage. My doctor says the bladder is sensitive and thats the cause. I am on meds. I find I am getting more levator spasms post op as well. Is it possible the two issues are related? Both my doctors are completely useless about these spasms. Would physio help the overactive bladder to recover and go back to normal? I so hope someone has some reassurance for me...

Re: Pelvic floor levator spasms

I have been googling about it today and hope to also ask my gyno next week. Although he didn't know about the levator ani spasms he still might know a therapist.

Pelvic floor levator spasms

I was In Pittsburgh yesterday and had my injections in vagina to help with spasms. Can't tell yet been sitting on ice bag I am ao swollen inside it's nuts.
As for information on Internet there is not very much at all.
Next week I go to GI specialist in Pittsburgh - u see the GI dr, a psychologist and a dietician all in one visit. My gi dr in Erie was an ******* and the more people I talk to it is just not me that feels that way. I also have chronic kidney atones for 17 years in July so that messes with pelvic floor. I in my heart feel all 3 problems are related ao we will see I was too drugged up yesterday so if I asked I don't remember. Horrific pain after shots bc I was already so irritated to begin with from passing stones.

That sounds so rough... I truly hope you feel better and let us know I you feel improvement from the shots. P.S I hate it when doctors talk to when you are still doped up, dont they realize we cant ask what we want and cant remember whats said!

Re: Pelvic floor levator spasms

The pelvic pain doc I saw yesterday was a jerk too, and I had high hopes he would be more understanding. Anyway he prescribed pamelor for the vaginal pulling pain and pelvic floor PT, but I can't get in until next week. I don't want to start this drug! Has anyone had any experience with it? Thanks in advance!

Pelvic floor levator spasms

I have. Not heard of that I was given Valium suppositories and amitriptoline to use at night it has helped lot as long as I watch how long I sit, where I sit , what i do and don't have sex. A lot of drs know about it but don't know what they r too g about. That is why I ended up in Pittsburg he apecializea in pelvic floor dysfunction problems. I was impressed he spoke to me 50 min before my internal exam then again but I was bawling then.but when I got home too pain meds I called back down and they called next day with my answers . It is a 2 hr drive for me so I had called at like 4 . My physical therapist suggested me read a book it's called Heal Pelvic Pain. It's pretty good and I found another I have not read her it is called A headache in the pelvis . I asked therapist about that and she also said it was good book. I also have a cushion to sit on I ordered off line but it helps so much for like sporting events or even sitting in living room takes pressure off pelvic floor. I can get the website for u if you would like I go to therapy Friday.

Pelvic floor levator spasms

Funny you said something about butt sling chairs my husband spent 45 min to find me a chair it is the butt along kind still but it is flat. And yes it stayed flat he also spent 40 on it and I took my cushion with thank had ordered per request of my physical therapy dr. It was so much better the week before I was dying. I am going to GI specialist in Pitts next tues. there are 2 dr in there that only specialize in gastroperisis so I'll see GI dr, psychologist and a nutrition person all in first visit. I spent about 4 hours researching bc I have not heard good thing about my dr he needs to find new occupation and they didn't want to schedule me with any other dr so ..... Kinda like my kidney drs here no one could figure me out well I went to Cleveland about 10 yrs ago but I think all my pain is cross related. The GI flares up pelvic floor and so do the kidney stones. Now I jut need a team of drs like dr HOUSE and out it all together.

Make sure the physical therapist is board certified In pelvic floor I went to 1 for 3 mo 3x a week and come to find out she is not board certified. She did all external exercises which helped none and are nothing like mine does now. She does internal and external so just be prepared and yes it will hurt. I take my pain pills first and it still hurts but no pain no gain and with them figuring I have had for almost 17 years it will not fix over night .
