Trigger point injections tomorrow - do they hurt much?

I've posted most of my story in another thread, but to be brief - total vaginal hys followed by severe infection two years ago. Today I go for my second bladder instillation for IC and tomorrow I go for trigger point injections (not botox) for muscles that have been intractable to manual physical therapy. I'm really nervous. Do they hurt? Did you drive yourself? Contemplating taking pain meds prior to shots.

Re: Trigger point injections tomorrow - do they hurt much?

Emcee,

I have had trigger point injections but not for the pelvic area. I had them in my neck and shoulder muscles that had giant knots in them and they wouldn't release. I was suffering with alot of pain at the time from the muscles not relaxing. When I was given the shots it did hurt quite a bit , like a bad bee sting and then it would pass. Again, the places they were injecting were already painful so please consider this before comparing.

I would call the center or DR where you are getting the treatment because they may not allow you to be on pain meds prior to the procedure. So please check first.

Also if you are not sure how you are going to feel it cant hurt to ask someone to go with you just in case.

I am wishing you a productive recovery and future comfort.
