Re: Recovery Progress Reports for Hysterectomy dates Feb 06-Feb 12,2012

Congratulations, Freshstart! I'm thrilled for you to get your dog back!

I forgot to mention stool softeners for me, too. No hemorroids, thankfully. I use a stool softener with every meal, plus a handful or two of bran flakes, and try to stay over-hydrated. It seems the more painful bowel times are when I've skimped on water. I'm nervous to go off the stool softeners until the epi stitches are gone, so I'll keep them up.

Are hemorroids from pushing too hard? With my stitches, I haven't dared push . . . maybe that's why no hemorroids for me? (I'm sure I'm spelling that wrong, but am too lazy to look it up!) I've never had them in my life, so really don't know much about them. Hm.

You should check with your doc about the pain in your calf. Just to make sure it isn't a blood clot!

I am taking this time to look forward to my summer and plan to be enjoying it.. as long as no problems.. I will be on cloud nine..

Re: Recovery Progress Reports for Hysterectomy dates Feb 06-Feb 12,2012

Three weeks tomorrow morning. :-) A lot of sleeping first four days, then better every day. This surgery gave me my life back and I'm totally grateful. I start back to a full schedule of work tomorrow and feel I've done the rehabbing work necessary to be fine with the physicality of my job. Still can't lift 100% but stronger every day. I'm sure I will be dragging tomorrow, but I can do it! Cheers.

Re: Recovery Progress Reports for Hysterectomy dates Feb 06-Feb 12,2012

I am enjoying catching up on today's posts... You all make me lol and nod my head in agreement a lot! Thanks!

Freshstart--congrats on the good checkup and getting your dog back home.

Love the lists of what you are not doing, ladies! Great idea wending!

I am at this moment NOT taking my daughters to their haircuts (dw is for me), and not making dinner (a friend is bringing a meal!)... And really I have done little today....

...except I drove for the first time post op (twice!) to drs and acupuncture. Driving was ok, I just feel tired from all the exertion... (ha! I am usually so energetic!). My hemoglobin is still low --for me-- at 11.8... (my norm is 15-16, but presurgery with my heavy periods was down to 13-14). I have been feeling dizzy, so that could be it. Going to up the iron intake! I am hoping I can get more energy so I can get back to walking! At least my house has stairs (and bedroom is upstairs, kitchen is down, so I move around a fair amount inside).

Acupuncture felt really great, relaxing and self indulgent. I made an appt for two weeks from now for myself! She had some interesting things to say about how the surgery had affected me.

I just stopped the stool softeners a few days ago, and so far so good (bold move for the lady with the major rectocele repair). I have my benefiber powder in my AM smoothie, and take a couple fiber delight tablets --chocolate ones are actually yummy!--after lunch (and have an apple each day!)... And keeping liquids up helps for sure (learned that one the hard way). Thankfully no hemmoroids!

And I too have lots of pressure down there. Especially today in my cervix(guessing) and pelvic bone areas after all of my "heavy activity"... Feels like my cervix might be a bit swollen--gah. Going to be very sedate til that feels better!

Re: Recovery Progress Reports for Hysterectomy dates Feb 06-Feb 12,2012

I'm sorry I am checking in so late, LONG day for me. Busy at work, then 2 minutes from home, phone call my ds(11) hurt himself playing football. 4 hours and a cast later we are home.

I LOVE the what we are not doing posts!! Best idea I have seen in awhile!!

I really enjoy reading you ladies posts, you are all hiliarious(ice pack between the cheeks:O)) and tuck pads are one of the best inventions ever. Even through your weepy days, you ladies have been very supportive of each other. I wish you all the best as you enter your 4th week of recovery. I encourage you to still not do a few things: vacuuming, sweeping, lifting heavy things and driving if you are not comfortable.

Hugs and healing prayers for all!

A bt of a set back... My throat and mouth have not healed from damage caused during anaesthetic. Now they are dreadfully infected and I am on forte strength antibiotics. Here's hoping the antibiotics will work quickly so that I can continue healing.
Hugs to everyone
