Worst part of this stage of recovery is we feel so well and we are in a hurry to get back to being normal. Take it easy today and try not to worry too much.

Yeah for no transfusion. Speak to a pharmacist on the iron, there are several types you could take. Also maybe something else you are taking is interacting with it? When I had steristrips after my gallbladder surgery years ago, my strips hung around for 2 weeks before showing signs of peeling. Dr said the glue just works better on some people. He said definitely don't pull on them, just in case skin is not completely healed, but to soak them a little longer in the shower. On the last few I soaked with some alcohol a few times a day and that helped too. I would check with your dr on what he recommends.

Has anyone else ever had a problem with those things?? They are impossible to get out and then we buy new ones and they were the wrong size so had to take them back and get new ones. Anyway, after all the running around (and trying to get the old stuck bulbs out without breaking them, which we didn't, we broke them, LOL), my abdomen started hurting and had to take pain meds which I had been off for several days. Oh, and my husband had the nerve to say don't get upset and cause yourself pain over lightbulbs so I told him I could feel and complain about pain if I wanted to! Oh well, taking it easier today all the lights now work and all is well!
Isn't it crazy we can tire ourselves out doing seemingly easy tasks? Take it easy today and I hope you feel better!!

I hope everyone on here is doing good. About to start backtracking through the forum and see what all I've missed this week. Hugs to everyone as you continue healing!!
Glad things are returning to normal! I am SO jealous of your trip!! My dh and I had planned on a 3 week cruise to Italy to celebrate our 10 yrs in Nov '10, but as you can see from my sig, my body had other plans. Hoping we get to it for 12 yrs this year! Enjoy yourselves!!

Iron is best absorbed in an acid environment. Because it can be hard on a tummy, I take an iron tablet 325mg with a small glass of juice just before bed. That way I'm asleep and miss any possible nausea. Cheers!

I'll be four weeks post-op this Tuesday, and feel pretty good today! I went out with a friend yesterday--she treated me to a pre-b-day lunch, we browsed a favorite bookstore, and then saw Unicorn City at the theater. I sat without any problems at the restaurant, which is still hit and miss, so I was thrilled!

This was a wonderfully rejuvinating trip for me! There is something to be said for how feeling stir crazy effects the moods.

My pain level is pretty low these days, but I have been taking it way easy on housework still. I still take ibuprofin if I'm planning to go out, or need to sit, just in case.

My bowels seem to be working fine as long as I take the stool softener with every meal, eat bran flakes a few times a day, and stay hydrated. Looking forward to no stool softener, but when I accidentally skipped it the other day, it was not pretty!

I hope others are doing well and having a good weekend!

This site has been so helpful. I'm three an a half weeks post op. Overall I'm doing well but still get so tired. I find I can only be "productive" for so long and then I get really tired. Also get a little pain if I overdo it. I have two weeks left before I go back to work so am going to try and really concentrate on taking it easy so that hopefully have no issues when I return. I leave for Key West in mid April and want to be able to really enjoy it!

Hi dskka,
I thinks it's normal to have these fluctuations of concentration levels which, I think, are tiredness, your body recovering from major surgery and also from the anathestic. It does take time to get it all out of your system.

Take the next few weeks easy, try and push a little each day and then rest, especially if you feel you are overdoing it.

Looks like most of the ladies on this forum are recovering well.

Happy healing and hugs.

Re: Recovery Progress Reports for Hysterectomy dates Feb 06-Feb 12,2012

Hello All! Been a few days since I've been able to sign on... I went back to work last Thursday, exactly 3 weeks since my surgery. Only started out at 5 hours a week until I'm ready for full shifts again. First day back was a little uncomfortable. I thought I was prepared but, uh. No. The next day was much better. I took a small pillow to sit on and drank water all day. Got up and walked every 30-60 minutes and ate sensible things like a banana and a bran muffin. I paced myself. Luckily I sit behind a desk and have a very supportive staff.

My bleeding has stopped and I'm only dealing with mild abdominal pain. Every once in a while I'll get a sharp pain that feels like a bolt of lighting, and then it's gone. At that point I find a cushioned seat and park it for a while until I'm ready. Swelly belly needs to go! How long does that last?

All n' all I feel pretty good. Just sooo ready to resume an active lifestyle. Hope everyone has a great day!

The longer the steristrips stay on, the better looking scar you will have so don't worry about when they will fall off. Mine took 3 weeks to mostly come off. I probably should have put new ones on and then my scar might have looked better. Oh well, live and learn.

As to your iron, are you taking the liquid kind? That apparently doesn't have the same effect as the pills. The only down side is that it is apparently quite expensive.
