Da Vinci - It's Over - Post Op 2 Day

Hi All,

I joined Hystersisters and only read the forums for support. I was very afraid and very confused. This forum has given me all the information and strength I needed to get through this experience.

I have always had bad periods since I was 12. I got on birth control at the age of 17 and was able to handle my periods better. I had my first son at 28 and had no problems and then had my second son at 32 and had no problems. I found the fibroid at 35 and was told that not to worry about it. Fast forward 10 years of feeling terrible, tired and not functioning well. After ruling out a lot of other issues, the fibroids were found. I had 4. Size 16 weeks, and 3 calcified (hard).

Had the Da Vinci and am so glad. It was truly uneventful. I did want to tell anyone getting this that water is the key. I started drinking water right away and I think I must have drank two gallons. It kept the gas down, no dry throat and I was able urinate right away. I sleep about an hour and then sit up. I walk 20 paces up and down the hall and drink more water. This has been helping tremendously. I got six incisions (that I don't need to touch at all) and the doc said that my fibroid was 18 weeks in size and he had to work hard to get them out. He also found endometrosis that he took out. I didn't even know I had that.

Ladies if you are getting this Da Vinci, don't be afraid, I already feel better. First, I'm so glad that I went through it and second, it really is minimally invasive. I am looking forward to a better quality of life and what it feels like to be normal. You will have some pain, because it surgery. But for me, my periods were worse than this. This is mostly uncomfortable and knowing that each day will get better is great.
