@ksharp
I don't like saying "I'm good" when asked either. I'm not. I'm better than I was but I don't want any misconceptions and someone thinking I'm 100% but I don't want to complain either. So, " I'm right were I'm expected to be but still have a ways to go."

Re: Recovery Progress Reports for Hysterectomy dates Feb 20-Feb 26,2012
Hi Sisters,
I was back at work on Tuesday as it's a public holiday in here on Monday. I felt fine except I was very tired after work and on Thursday I had the pain on my tummy the whole day so I took an ibuprofen which it's just helped a bit-as I realised the good night sleep was the most helpful for the pain. I had the pain because of the work on Wed was involving assessing a new resident which meaning a physical effort.
The good thing that I slept better at night after I started to work again.
Likely 'singlechick', I feel lucky as I am single so I can do whatever I want after work.
I read on one of the rehabilitation book that said 7 to 12 weeks post op to do no squatting when gardening and it suggested that to do kneeling on the soft pad when gardening.
Hope it's helped for sisters whom wanting to do gardening. I am lucky as I don't have to do that
All the best for our recovery.

Totally agree. I usually say" Im ok, better then where I was, but still healing....." I think people just expect me to say "I'm good" The ladies that have been through this are very sympathetic, but those who haven't, well they just don't get it.

Where did you get the rehabilitation book? I would have loved to know not to be squatting yesterday......

Hi Sister,
I tried to post the website of the book, but I could not do it as it's said it's commercial things. Sorry for that.
The book's title is 'Pelvic Floor Recovery' - A Physiotherapy Guide for Gynaecological Repair Surgery.
All the best for our recovery.

Re: Recovery Progress Reports for Hysterectomy dates Feb 20-Feb 26,2012
Thanks, Skolastika, for the encouragement regarding sleeping better after a day's work. Hopefully I will have some of that this coming week. We will be hearing the "voices" of the surgery no matter what: the pangs and soreness are going to be reminding us of the event for a long time. I think we have to consciously focus on the good that is coming out of the surgery, whether it's a bladder that has more staying power, or the end of overwhelming bleeding, or a new lease on life after a cancerous or precancerous situation.
Wishing everyone well on this journey.

I feel like I can say good most of the time too - but don't! I say I'm okaaaay. lol. Or if someone asks genuinely to wait for an answer I say I'm about 80% good. I don't think we are nuts to say that. If I said I'm good, everyone thinks I'm back to normal and ready to do everything. Not quite yet.
I'm always glad to find I'm not the only one!

Re: Recovery Progress Reports for Hysterectomy dates Feb 20-Feb 26,2012
7 1/2 weeks post-op and 90% back to normal and better than before. I still avoid heavy and prolonged lifting. Sitting when I've been on feet too long, but able to do most light housework, excluding vacuuming. I'm doing well on HRT. NO, more tearing of stitches, and got Doctors clearance this week to resume most normal activities The best advice I read on here was to not lift anything over the size of a 5 lb sugar bag. Honestly, for the first 2-3 weeks it was painful to lift anything larger than my mug of hot tea. I'm looking forward to sitting in a hot-tub, having real sex with spouse, and snorkeling in Hawaii at the end of next month My total hysterectomy was needed for years, and I have no regrets, I'm starting the second part of my life with a new vagina and new outlook on life

Did you know, that there is a misterhystersisters ? I recommended it to my husband, and got a real kick out of it. Example: "when will my wife be able to cook for me?" He seems to be more understanding of my long recovery, since looking at that webpage

Re: Recovery Progress Reports for Hysterectomy dates Feb 20-Feb 26,2012
Well, I've completed a week of work, plus one more day at my part-time job. Talk about over-doing it! Monday I was pleasantly surprised at how much energy I had and I really felt fine. Tuesday I was dragging a bit. I could barely get up Wednesday morning, and by Thursday I was about in tears. I started getting kind of woozy or dizzy when on my feet too long - has anyone else felt that? I'd not had that symptom before, just this week at work - and not upon standing, just walking around and I'd feel like I had to hold on to something for stability and support. It has been awful. Thursday night I was drunk w/exhaustion so much so that the next morning I couldn't remember much of the evening at all. Weird. Friday I had a couple of meetings so could sit at those and didn't do as much moving around. But, there were a few dizzy episodes - not as bad, and same with today. It's been very slight today, not like I'm scared to drive or anything, just different than I regularly feel. My aches and heavy feeling came back too, so much that I almost got out the belly band again - it's been put away for weeks!
I wish I could've gone back to work half days at first, but I was really feeling great and I never would have thought this would happen.
Add to that internet problems and no help from the big corporation that should be helping, and it's been a tough week.
