Found out I have endometrial cancer

I just found out I have endrometrial cancer yesterday. Met with surgeon this morning. They will do a hysterectomy and a BSO. It isn't until Mar 16. Struggling with the long wait. I think I'm still in shock. 48 years old. My mom had this when she was 68.
Had no major symptoms except the past couple of months a little more bleeding, burning down my legs, back pain. PAP came back ok but they did an ultrasound and said let's just do a biopsy just in case.

Re: Concerned; possible uterine cancer

I am curious what you mean when you say a little more bleeding. I have had that for 18 months but I'm wondering how much having an iud has impacted it. My gyno says that The iud has nothing to do with it. Last month, my period lasted for 18 days and this month it has lasted for 11 so far.

Re: Concerned; possible uterine cancer

I had an ablation 5 years ago and i had 1 day light bleeding, it was wonderful. Then in Dec i had 3 days but the again in Jan i had about 3 days a week. Not heavy but more than i was use to. I juat felt it was something i needed checked and i was due for my yearly. My uterus was alittle enlarged. The doctor assured me it was nothing but wanted to just make sure. Im glad she tested me further.

I'm so sorry you had the endo cancer dx. I know what a shock it is. I pray that the time before your surgery will go by quickly and you have a positive outcome! It's hard but you can get through this!

Re: Found out I have endometrial cancer

Waiting for surgery is such a trying time, I completely understand, I was diagnosed in November and didn't have surgery until the end of January and the wait made me a bundle of nerves.

As healthyandfun mention, this forum is a great place to help ease your concerns in the meantime, the ladies here are wonderful and will try and provide you with as much support you need.

Re: Found out I have endometrial cancer

I am so sorry for your diagnosis.
I ended up with something similar.
I went ahead with my hysterectomy about a year ago.
Mine was not easy, but it beats cancer.
I am improving day by day.
No more bleeding 3 weeks out of every month!

Re: Found out I have endometrial cancer

Hi Sweetie,

I am sorry you had to join our "club" here but so glad you found us. There are many who have had this DX so pls ask away with any questions, etc.

Hearing one has the big "C" is a shock and more and the waiting is a major struggle and actually one of the hardest things to do. I had to wait 3 weeks before surgery and boy did my mind run rampant, mostly conjuring up bad things that could happen. Do try to stay busy with things that occupy your mind positively if possible. I tried to get my house ready for post surgery, got some books, tapes, videos, etc., I've always wanted to read, hear, see and knew I then would have time to.

Others will come along with better ideas, suggestions. You will make it through all this though possbily now you m ay be thinking "how?" We are all here for you and sort of understand, at least from our experiences, some of what you may be feeling, thinking, etc. Pls keep us posted, ask away, etc.

Re: Found out I have endometrial cancer

I also developed heavy irregular bleeding about a year ago and then it progressed to just bleeding all month long. Had an ultrasound and that came out ok and my gyno thought it was due to hormonal changes because i am only 44. My gyno thought it would be best to do a uterine biopsy to cover all the bases and my grandmother also died of uterine cancer. To much surprise it came back positive for cancer. Had a radical hysterectomy and also opted to have the lymph nodes removed and biopsied. Ended up being stage 3c1 with positive pelvic lymph nodes and am currently going through chemo and radiation adjuvent therapies. It all happened so fast I am still in shock but have great family support and stay positive. Fully educated myself on endometrial cancer and prognosis for this most common gynocologic cancer is very favorable especially when caught in the early stages! I find the more I know about my condition the less worries I have because then you are not guessing or worrying all the time.

Re: Found out I have endometrial cancer

Surgery happened on March 16th. 4 hours later and found no signs of cancer. Very thankful but kinda weird that no cancer was found and the doctor said it must have been removed in the biopsy. Not sure about this whole thing. Sore, tired and very emotional. But thankful no further treatment is needed.
