Re: TAH March 8th/12 Scared to death

One day at a time, Minimouser! Read some of the stories on here, visualise yourself in a future free of pain and full of energy...and be busy! There's a lot to be said for displacement activities! I was in your position a month ago, but you know what, surgery day came quicker than I would have believed, and now I am amazed to think it was over two weeks ago. You'll get through this week...big hugs! xx

Re: TAH March 8th/12 Scared to death

Thank You rapid Reader.
It's funny, but right after I posted, I had enough energy to tackle house work again.
I have been literally scared stiff, thinking about pre and post op stuff.
LOL, It's funny now.
Come heck or high water, I want to get this place as clean as can be,
I have 7 cats, 7 !!!!! I was doing cat rescue big time before I 'got sick'

I will think of them at Hospital, Mini Mouser is the one I'd like to take with me to Hospital, She is such a DOLL.

I put money on the Master Card, and want to order the Binder and go fancy with my account here,

I want to pay it forward for other women since it has been a Blessing for me.

Haven't packed yet, lol,
One thing at a time, I want to Thank You again for writing.
I will read other stories for sure !!!!!

BIG HUGS !!!!!!!

Re: TAH March 8th/12 Scared to death

I was really scared coming up on my surgery, too. While I was definitely sore and tired (I don't want to paint an unrealistic picture), at every stage of my recovery, I was surprised at how good I felt. The pain management in the hospital was really good, so I never felt overwhelmed by the pain. I stopped all narcotics after 44 hours, and stopped regular pain medication (Tylenol and Advil) after the first week. After that, I just took an occasional Aleve, if I overdid things on a particular day.

And now, on the other end of things, I can't believe how much better I feel. So much more energy, and I never have to worry about another period. I keep finding my feminine protection in all of my hiding places. Now, I just leave them for when I have menstruating guests who get caught short.

Take deep breaths, and remind yourself of why you made the decision to go ahead with the surgery. Better days are on the horizon for you!

Re: TAH March 8th/12 Scared to death

Hi Carol Anne,

It's good to know the pain meds WORK.
I am glad to hear you feel better than before.

I will be back asap, with my tales from the Castle..

Re: TAH March 8th/12 Scared to death

Waiting for this surgery can be overwhelming. Mine is on March 7/12, the day before yours and a couple days ago I was freaking out. My thread is the one titled, "A week to go and barely hanging on". It really helped to vent to these lovely ladies and to remember that this surgery is necessary and will help me so much. You just have to hang on until then. I will keep you in my prayers as I keep myself in my prayers. Good luck to you!

Re: TAH March 8th/12 Scared to death

Your not alone in feeling scared. Most everyone is, there's so much unknown to us. I was pretty sick before my surgery too, I'd do housework and shopping in spurts to prepare. That and reading everything I could on here.
Make sure you let your fears/concerns known to your Dr., Anesthesiologist, etc. I was worried having general anesth. and told the anesthesiologist. I ended up with IV sedation & a Spinal Block. I loved it, no sore throat, no nausea and no chest coughing issues. And I did wake up.
I also have a cats that have snuggled with me since my return
(w/pillow on my belly) they sure can brighten our mood.
It will be over before you know it. Take care & know there's many sisters here to help you along your way.

Re: TAH March 8th/12 Scared to death

I am scheduled March 8th, too! I'm alternating between curling up in a ball and getting things done. I've been bleeding since Valentine's, so I'm getting weaker by the day right now. I've got plans to keep me busy until Wednesday and that will help. Just think about life on the other side!!
