Re: Recovery Progress Reports for Hysterectomy dates Mar 19-Mar 25,2012
That is exactly what I was thinking today. I cooked a vegi lasagne for dinner and walked (dawdled really and had 20 min break in the middle) for one whole km today. Whoo hoo I can see the light. I realise though that I am nowhere near being ready to be back at full tilt yet but I can finally see that it will happen. I am so excited to try out my new non leaky bladder with some proper exercise.
I hope everyone is turning the corner even if it's a slow bend

My uterus was not as large as yours, but I am no longer on meds for acid reflux as well. HUGE difference, right?! Same with my IBS - gone! I never had IBS...it was adhesions on my bowels. But yeah, quality of life is amazingly better, even with recovery to deal with.

Re: Recovery Progress Reports for Hysterectomy dates Mar 19-Mar 25,2012
sigasogkk I am still waiting on the pathology report. My DR did biopsies before surgery of my cervix and uterus which all came back negative so I am not too worried about something nasty coming up.
pipermvh, Lady MM, Pipppy, there is a light at the end of the tunnel and it is so nice to see it. I just hope to hang on to this feeling as a reminder when I do have a bad day here and there. I am just excited to be pain free finally.
Prayers and Hugs!

Re: Recovery Progress Reports for Hysterectomy dates Mar 19-Mar 25,2012
Feeling incredibly frustrated today!!! I was desperately hoping to feel today like I did on Friday so I could knock out a bunch of schoolwork. Unfortunately, not what is happening I knew I would need to rest and 'take it easy' after this surgery but am so overwhelmed right now with the amount of schoolwork needing to be completed and the possibility that I may have to postpone my internship in counseling yet another semester. I thought that even though I would be resting I would be able to work on schoolwork as well by taking quizzes, catching up on lectures etc.. but instead the fatigue is kicking my butt most days and I'm not able to focus enough to accomplish anything related to school. Finding myself in my comfy bed yet again watching tv and 'resting' due to lower back pain and burning feeling inside right above where my belly is numb.
The other part that is driving me crazy is how quickly I'm overreacting to situations with kids. Thankfully they are quick to forgive me and my BFF was able to help me process my feelings last night.
Maybe a nap will help lol. I'll check back in later.

Aww, 'Sis, I feel you on the school work part...I really do. I've had a few productive days but so far, many more that are just kicking my butt in the school department. My prof knows and is a very understanding man (his wife had this done 5 years ago, he told me), but it's more that I am disappointed and frustrated with myself! I am not living up to my own expectations...it was a long road into the grad program I chose, and now...I feel like I am failing. Failing myself, failing my prof, failing my school...
Like I said before - baby steps. I am working on one paper today and hope to finish it by evening. Tomorrow will be another paper. Wednesday will be participation and readings. Thursday will be free so I can push off anything I need to. And Friday is prep for next week, group project meeting, presentation outline, and loose ends. Saturday is a day off! And Sunday is discussion, presentation prep, and final paper topic decision. Then Monday is final topic approval, discussion board, group project .ppt, and I will pencil in the rest of next week from there depending on how much I actually accomplish this week...
I don't know. I am not a list-maker by nature, but right now, I need some kind of structure to help me focus.
What's your degree? Mine is MA Communication. My BA is English, minor Psychology (almost a second BA, but changed my mind when I was offered a job in pharma before I graduated).

Re: Recovery Progress Reports for Hysterectomy dates Mar 19-Mar 25,2012
sigasogkk, can you phone your dr. for the pathology results? Whatever they took out of my uterus (football sized, over 5 pounds) was infected, so I'm very curious to see what my pathology report says. Also little hard white bits in it...('twas sitting in my hospital room until the lab came to pick it up, so I got to inspect it).
The lab was supposed to email me the results but they never appeared, so we are calling the doc when he gets back into town this week to hear the results from him. (It just doesn't seem right that you should have to wait 7 weeks to find out what's happening with your body...)
So good to hear from those of you almost a week ahead of me that you are all feeling improvement. YAY!
Looking forward to two days of packing and saying goodbye to friends before I fly north on Wednesday. Trying to get things done in a good way without stressing or lifting. Friends have arranged to drive me to the airport so I don't have to take taxis and buses, a great relief as I was worried about lifting something I shouldn't somewhere along the way. Hard to remember not to lift...Hoping someone can carry my stuff into the airport and then I'm supposed to have a wheelchair waiting.
MM, I wish I was close to you and could bring you some of the healing salve that I make (with calendula, comfrey, cottonwood, St. John's Wort, chamomile and lavendar) to put on your incision. I'm sure it would help you heal right up, and relieve the pain as well. I wonder if you have any local herbalists in your area that make similar salves? They bring healing (and relief from pain and itching) like nothing else I know of. If you can't find a good salve, you might consider picking up "Swedish Bitters" (herbal remedy available at most natural food stores) and applying it topically to the incision. I have been using both the bitters and salve on my incision and it has healed very well.
Other things I've been doing to support the healing process include taking 2-4 Tablespoons per day of flax seed oil (not with meds or vitamins as it may slow absorption) and drinking green and black tea for their anti-inflammatory effects.
Wishing everyone ongoing healing and relief from pain!

Becky, you are right and i wish i could have had at least a 2 week follow up like the other sisters here
And worse, my dh is out of province when i do go for my doc appt at 61/2 weeks
I dont know if the secretaries would give that info over the phone.... Its frustrating!
Also, there was no indication of disease prior to surgery, so i dont know what to expect at the appt still have 3 weeks to wait.....
