The lab was supposed to email me the results but they never appeared, so we are calling the doc when he gets back into town this week to hear the results from him. (It just doesn't seem right that you should have to wait 7 weeks to find out what's happening with your body...)

So good to hear from those of you almost a week ahead of me that you are all feeling improvement. YAY!

Looking forward to two days of packing and saying goodbye to friends before I fly north on Wednesday. Trying to get things done in a good way without stressing or lifting. Friends have arranged to drive me to the airport so I don't have to take taxis and buses, a great relief as I was worried about lifting something I shouldn't somewhere along the way. Hard to remember not to lift...Hoping someone can carry my stuff into the airport and then I'm supposed to have a wheelchair waiting.

MM, I wish I was close to you and could bring you some of the healing salve that I make (with calendula, comfrey, cottonwood, St. John's Wort, chamomile and lavendar) to put on your incision. I'm sure it would help you heal right up, and relieve the pain as well. I wonder if you have any local herbalists in your area that make similar salves? They bring healing (and relief from pain and itching) like nothing else I know of. If you can't find a good salve, you might consider picking up "Swedish Bitters" (herbal remedy available at most natural food stores) and applying it topically to the incision. I have been using both the bitters and salve on my incision and it has healed very well.

Other things I've been doing to support the healing process include taking 2-4 Tablespoons per day of flax seed oil (not with meds or vitamins as it may slow absorption) and drinking green and black tea for their anti-inflammatory effects.

Wishing everyone ongoing healing and relief from pain!

becky
Hi Becky,
I wish you were close too thanks so much for the info I am going to look into it. If I can get this under control I think I will be ok. The incision is my biggest complaint right now.

Newoutlook and Piper, I can't even imagine being a student right now. Wow!

My body just seems to want to go to a quiet, dreamy place, lots of sleeping and processing types of dreams, lots of sitting, maybe a movie or novel--the land of imagination and images but not places of structure, rational thinking and intellect. I'm still trying to finish two editing jobs that I started a week ago, my whole being just doesn't seem to want to go there--and I thought it would be simple to plow ahead on a bunch of projects during recovery.

I guess we all need to be gentle with ourselves and not expect too much--it's tough, though, and I don't envy the two of you with your 24/7 (and never enough time to get it all done) student schedule.

Best of luck,
becky

The in call doc told me if I got a bruise or it looked purple that I would need to go in and be checked ! So when you are done reading this....you need to call your doctor !

Go

Now

Call !

Let me know how it turns out !
I had my surgery the same day you did. I just went to visit my son at his college campus for Mom's Weekend and am totally exhausted. I didnt think it would be so hard, but we had to walk alot, and I have not done much since my surgery. But I wanted to ask you about the bleeder you had. I have a bruise (or bleed) near the upper incision on my belly, and after driving in my car and doing all the activities this weekend, the bruise is purple and looks like a fresh bleeder. do you think I popped a stitch on the inside? I feel ok just tired and sore.[/quote]

Ladies, yea, my doctor won't see me until this Friday ( see my earlier post about seeing the other doctor who didn't do anything). I am coming up on week four this wednesday. I too have less heartburn, acid reflux and I can actually sneeze without peeing! I had no idea all these things were connected! Feeling better. The mental thing is still bothering me, though. But that is mostly related to being broke. Oh well, prayers and hugs!

My poor dad is not doing well at all and I'm so worried about him. He is going in tomorrow for a surgery on his ankle and I'm so afraid because he has been so sick and not getting out of bed at all. I wish I could be there but I'm not allowed to drive yet and I have no one to take me.
I'm wondering, does the fact that I have thyroid problems and that I've had 10 surgeries in the last three years impact my recovery? I feel like I should be doing better now and am getting really impatient with my recovery.
All I did was change the laundry a few times yesterday and cleaned my room and man.. I'm down for the count!! I'm so afraid that when I see my dr on the 19 that she won't release me to drive or anything yet.
I just want to be normal!!!
Ugh so sorry ladies, I'm just very overwhelmed with my dad and this recovery today,
I pray you all are having a better day and healing well! Lots of love and hugs to you all!!

Dear Roughneckwife (Erica),

Yes your body has been through a lot and you probably were not at 100% when you had your surgery. I know it is easy to say, but take it easy. I have also had lots of assaults on my body in the past 3 years and to prove to myself that I was ok really overdid it in the first few weeks so am now taking it slower. Though I am sore and bloated every evening and still taking the occasional pain pill, particularly towards dinner time.

Hope all goes well with your dad, prayers and positive thoughts

Re: Recovery Progress Reports for Hysterectomy dates Mar 19-Mar 25,2012

Quick question..( I know I have a lot of them lately!)
I had the TLH on 3/23, and the first week or so I opened one of the incisions on accident and went in and saw my dr and found out I was also allergic to the glue that they used, so she cleaned it and put on steri strips.
Well I've been having a tremendous ripping, tearing pain on that side and my steri strips came off and I noticed while the incision looks closed now, it is red and my skin is pealing where the steri strips were and it doesn't look infected but is defiantly not healing well.
I am going in for my almost 4 week appt on thursday and I was just wondering if any of you knew what this pain could be and what they might do because it's not healing well. I'm just so afraid hat she will not clear me to drive or do anything yet.
Do you think they will put me on antibiotics? I have no clue what to expect!!
Has anyone else experienced this??
I know she said they did a lot of work on that side, but the other incisions look good except my belly button one, that one seems to be taking its sweet time! Lol

Thank you Anne for your prayers for my dad. He is going in for his surgery in about an hr and a half.
I heard this recovery was hard but had no idea how hard! Lol
But I know there is a light at the end of the tunnel and I can't wait to get there!!

I am starting to think that I am reading way to many horror stories about tearing the vaginal cuff. I am a very anxious person as it is these kinds of stories that make things worse for me. I am scared to do a lot of stuff because of this.

Second I was wondering if any of you have found yourself urinating more than usual. I have been tested twice for bladder infections, both negative. Sometimes I will go to the bathroom and minutes later finding myself with the urge to go again.. Please help

Do not worry too much. Just make sure you do not over do it. I have been very lucky with my healing and swelling is my worst problem.

If you are drinking a lot of water you will go to the bathroom more. I had a bladder sling so I am much better than before surgery, but I do go a lot due to drinking 8 glasses of water.

Take care of yourself and let your family do as much as possible.

ELN-I know exactly what you mean. I can't wait for summer break. I'm just physically and mentally spent. We have our high stakes test (TAKS) beginning next week so there is my much to do week.

Painting w/ 29 little kids sounds simply exhausting! I would think your wardrobe should be understood by your administration but I would probably try to hide too.

I went back to work on April 5. Transitioning wasn't too bad...wasn't as bad as I thought.
