I use a patch. I think they are all estradiol, which is bioidecal. I've never used a gel but my concern is how do you get a consistent dose when you are guesstimating with a size bit of gel? It may be easier than I think, as I say, I haven't used a gel or mist. It seems different work better for different women and trial and error is the key. Some women can't get patches to stick. I think most Drs prescriba and are familiar with patches. Ask if they have samples. I hear Vivelle Dot sticks best and generics stick worst. I hope you have good luck on the first try, let us know how it works out.
I have been on estradot 100 (Im from the uk and you call it vivelle dot .1) for 8 months...i did good on it but still suffered from breakthrough flushes, insomnia etc etc. I had a defective batch of patches and recently changed to the gel because ive been a bit scarred by this experience.
I feel much much much better on this after 2 weeks, the feeling is very mellow, i feel nice and calm. I dont get peaks and troughs like i did on the gels and havent had one hine of a flush since ie been on it.
I use estrogel which comes in pumps form and i currently use 6 pumps a day.
I saw my doctor on Thursday and she started me on the Vivelle dot at .5. This is my third day on it and I feel so much better! Hardly any hot flashes and my energy has improved. I am also much more cheerful. The pharmacist said it would take a week before I would feel the full effect of the patch but so far I love it.
