Recovery Progress Reports for Hysterectomy dates Mar 26-Apr 01,2012

If your hysterectomy was between Mar 26-Apr 01,2012 this is the place to post your progress during your hysterectomy recovery.

If you have a question about your recovery, please start a new thread to receive answers and support for your concerns instead of including the question in your update! There is information on how to start a new thread in this link: New Here? or you can use this link: Post a New Topic in the Post-Op forum.

Post how you are doing here when you are home and well enough to sit a few minutes at your computer.

We hope you are recovering well with plenty of rest and water and a bit of walking. Don't forget to pamper the princess!

How to use the Recovery Progress Reports thread:

  • 1. This thread is for the purpose of sharing updates on your recovery as you heal from your hysterectomy.

  • 2. Generally, ONE or TWO posts on this thread per member/per day is adequate to share your daily progress and to share encouragement with your surgery week Sisters.

  • 3. Remember to start a new thread on the Post-Op message board to ask your questions.

  • 4. The Progress Report threads will be moved at approximately 8 weeks post-op to the Date Club forum inside the HysterSisters clubhouse.

  • 5. Remember all the love and support you got here as a pre-op member? Now it's YOUR turn to give back to the women in the Pre-Op Hysterectomy Support forum. Extend your hand and your hugs in replies to our pre-op ladies in waiting. This will complete our circle of women helping women!

  • 6. You can also share support and experiences with post-op members in all phases of recovery in the Post-Op Hysterectomy Support forum by replying on the new threads they create.

Hello sisters
I'm rxdiva and I'm your Sunshine Sister, I'm here to help you during your recovery period. This site is an awesome site. It has helped me in so many ways.

During the first couple of weeks you will endure GAS problems, bowel problems, emotional problems amongst other things. Don't hesitate to put here and I will try my best to get the appropriate answer to you.

As of today Im 8 weeks post-op and I'm doing great. Just remember every woman heals differently, and you only have one chance to heal right!

Make sure you drink plenty of water
WALK, WALK, WALK, (it helps move the gas and get you core stronger)
And REST, REST, REST you may start feeling better next week but you still need to rest.
And ALWAYS follow your 's orders.

Happy heal sisters.

Re: Recovery Progress Reports for Hysterectomy dates Mar 26-Apr 01,2012

Went in for surgery yesterday morning at 5:45. They took me to the OR at 7 and I was in my room and awake at 9:30. The doctor said everything went well and I didn't bleed to bad (that was his main concern). I was vomitting off and on until about midnight. I knew I would though because I always get sick on pain medicine. I ate crackers around 1 a.m. and kept them down so I got to eat my breakfast and went home around 10 a.m. So far so good. I am glad everything has turned out good for me and I hope it goes as smooth for everyone else.

Re: Recovery Progress Reports for Hysterectomy dates Mar 26-Apr 01,2012

I had my surgery today around noon and it went perfectly. Apparently as I was waking up from the anesthesia I just kept asking "is it over? Is it really over?" (meaning the pain and the bleeding and so forth) and crying from joy. I'm so relieved to know that I'm finally not going to be suffering every day. My surgery was laparoscopic and two of the incisions I'm not feeling at all, but the third is really annoying me. Fortunately, the rest of my bodily functions have restarted with no issues. I've had no nausea, no exhaustion, no emotional breakdowns, so I'm hoping I keep recovering like this. I hope the rest of you do great and if anyone needs to talk, I'm here!

Re: Recovery Progress Reports for Hysterectomy dates Mar 26-Apr 01,2012

Went int for surgery at 730 and got to my room at 1.... The doc had issues with my uterus. Then apparently in recovery I tried to fight the nurses while they were putting my nausea patch on. They forgave me once I explained I have space issues :-). No one went to tell my husband what was going on and he was a complete mess by the time we got to see each other. My nurses sucked. Until the night shift came on and she finally paid some much needed attention to me. Because I was up walking around I was told "since you are an easy patient well leave you be. Come get us if you need us" SERIOUSLY?!! Most of Monday was awful. I have 7 incisions and the one right up by my ribs is the one that kills me. He had Togo so high because of the size of my uterus. I did get to keep my left ovary! I'm only sleeping about 2 hours at a time and am still on percecet(sp) on time. My husband has been soooooo wonderful and I can't tell him enough. He helped me shower last night which was wonderful but wore me flat out. No BM yet but lots of pressure. I'll keep y'all posted. Also, does anyone else feel like their arms/legs are numb? Not to the point where you can't walk but where it feels odd? I must say I feel better than I thought I would but I'm still realllllly slow. Thanks for the support :-)

Rest well, ladies. You are going to need all the rest you can get in the weeks to come, but it sounds like you are all off to a good start!!

Re: Recovery Progress Reports for Hysterectomy dates Mar 26-Apr 01,2012

Really enjoying laying around watching TV and just doing whatever I want this morning. Finally run the hubbie off, bless his heart, he tries so hard. Kids are at school and hubbie is cutting grass, I think I will take a nap. I am feeling so good, what a relief. Barely any bleeding, no cramps, just a little bed sore. I beleive I have made the right decision. I hope everyone else's time is as enjoyable as mine. I have only took 1 motrin 800 this morning. I hope I continue to feel this good. I was so run down before surgery I have way more energy now, but I am going to enjoy this down time.

Re: Recovery Progress Reports for Hysterectomy dates Mar 26-Apr 01,2012

I'm two days post-op and I think I'm doing pretty well. My doc is a real sweetheart and all my nurses have been very encouraging and patient with me. I was up walking within 24 hours and with a lot of effort, I've managed to keep walking so I'm comfortable getting up and down on my own. Ladies, the best thing you can do for yourself is move!! Gas pains are brutal and literally take my breath away. I'm hopeful they will go away soon. My doc amazed me by taking a picture of my uterus with the ovaries after it was removed! Now I know what was in there causing me problems!! I'm amazed at how big it was!

Now I'm looking forward to going home to recuperate in my own bed. Good luck to my fellow sisters!!

ladies to the other side.
I'm so glad that your surgeries went well. Now that the hard part is over, now it's time to heal in the right way. Get plenty of rest, take your meds, WALK, WALK, WALK and follow your doctor's orders. If something is questionable or weird, don't hesitate to call your doctor!
Happy Healing!
