LSH on 3/23: any suggestions on how to keep busy?

Today is my first day home with no distractions so I'm relaxing much easier. I was able to sleep soundly for a few hours. I'm having weird dreams at night so i didn't sleep well in the hospital or my first night home. To keep my self busy I have been watching movies and playing games on my iPhone. And browsing this website quite frequently. Do you have any suggestions what else I could do? I tried to read but I get distracted.

You may have some trouble concentrating for awhile....that is completely normal.

Unfortunately, while you are healing, you are very limited on the things you can do to keep yourself busy. I watched a lot of TV and movies as well as coming here to the site to keep myself busy.

You could go for short walks. I tried to get up and walk a short distance at least once every hour. It is really good for your recovery process.

Do you know how to knit or sew? That is something you could do while you are trying to recover. Or maybe you could start a journal or a blog or something to occupy your time???

I know you are getting bored out of your mind....we have all been there, but just remember, no matter how bored you are, you still have to take it easy!!!

Hope you find something entertaining to do. to you!!

Unfortunately it's hard because of the lack of focus! I had so many plans, and yet was surprised to find that even reading didn't hold my attention long enough. One thing I did that was great: I went on the Costco photo site, and uploaded a ton of my digital photos from the past year. I ordered enlargements, and created three separate photo books, one of our summer vacation last year, one of the entire last two years, and a memory book full of pics of my mom who passed away in 2009. It kept me busy, I could leave it, save it, and come back later when I was into it again. The results were great, and I felt like I actually accomplished something! Granted it took like two weeks to get it all done, but I loved it. Snapfish, Kodak etc all have sites if you don't belong to Costco. Hmmm other than that, it's been a whole lot of tv, hulu, movies etc. The best thing was to go easy on myself, remember that even when you are doing nothing at all, your body is still working to recover. Best of Luck, I'm five weeks and feeling almost back to my old self!!!
