Talking - A breeze.... A breeze....

After only being a week out from surgery, all I can say is "what a breeze"!!
Once the decision was made to have the hysterectomy I heard so many times "you are too young"! Yes, they were right because I am only 34 but the reason I needed to have a hysterectomy was due to my adenomyosis. Last year I had an ablation in hopes that this would relieve my symptoms and it did for a short time. Unfortunately when they repeated my ultrasound in January it was not getting any better and my symptoms had began again! I was having extremely painful periods, longer periods and the cysts I was continually getting were extreme painful as well. After talking to my OBGYN, my only choice to rid myself was to have a hysterectomy. Although I am only 34, I have 2 children, both via c-section and had already had my tubes tied. There was no chance and no desire to have any more children. For me, a hysterectomy was a very reasonable choice for me.
I work in healthcare and knew what to expect to a point. I had already had 2 c-sections and gallbladder surgery so my stomach was already a highway map of scars
My experience from pre-op to post surgery was wonderful! My pain was very minimal and I was in the hands of one of the best OBGYN's in the area if not the entire United States! Once I woke up, I learned from my husband that my surgery was one of the hardest that my doctor had done due to my scarring. This was due to my c-sections. I wondered if this would have an impact on my recovery but thankfully, that was not the case!!
I was up walking just a few hours after surgery and was good to go by morning. I didn't even want my pain meds in the morning because I just had no need for them. I was sent home with Motrin and Tylox and only used the Motrin a few times as a precaution. I am now one week out, have been moving for days and can honestly say I am at about 95%! My incision sites (4 of them) look great! He used no stitches, just dermabond. All four of them are almost healed and look great! I am having to tell myself (others tell me as well) that I had major surgery even though I feel great! I don't want to push myself more than what I suppose to but it's hard when you feel so good!
If you are thinking of a hysterectomy via the robot, I would say DO IT! It was the best decision I have ever made!!
