Re: Recovery Progress Reports for Hysterectomy dates Apr 02-Apr 08,2012
Oh my gosh. I seriously laughed out loud when I read this. Hahaha! I like the flushing the tampons while laughing hysterically!
I have had that burning pain in my left ovary, too. I don't have the right one anymore (lost that one a few years ago) and we decided to leave the left ovary so I wouldn't go into menopause. But it really started hurting last week, so i went to the doc. They didn't find anything wrong (did a pelvic ultrasound), but they did see some follicles on the ovary. Bah. I am sure I am not done with those darn ovarian cysts!

Re: Recovery Progress Reports for Hysterectomy dates Apr 02-Apr 08,2012
Hi All ...since I've been reading/checking these posts constantly but not adding much I think it's about time I added something as well! I am 4 wks post op today (4/4/2012) I feel better and better each day ...walking lots, driving a bit, very light puttering around the house ...no lifting, bending, pulling, housework etc. as per Drs. orders ...I think I mentioned before I am taking the line "you only have one chance to heal right the first time" seriously. Having said that I am very lucky to have a job with sick leave and am able to take the full 8 wks off. As good as I feel right now I think if I went back to work it would be way too much and I would be in a lot of pain ...and wouldn't that just slow full recovery down??
I got the news that my pathology showed very early endometrial cancer ...I believe there will be no more treatment just follow up visits to a GYN onocologist to keep checking things ...that and hormone therapy are my biggest concerns right now. I am on estrogens right now because of the surgical menopause ...I feel fine but don't know how long I can take them (because of the endometrial cancer) ...I used to wake up with a headache almost every day ...especially bad the days before my period ...since the surgery and the start of taking the HT I haven't had a headache! I am really puzzled as to what to do about the hormones ...sounds so scary living without estrogen! I see my GYN in two weeks for my 6 wk post op appt. ...I'm hoping to know more then.

and p.s. when I entered my information I said I had a total abdominal hysterectomy ...so that's a TAH right?, why does my profile say TAH/SAH? ...what is the SAH? I'm sure I didn't put that there!

I wondered the same thing. Computer just put it there automatically.
I too had the same surgery you had. I just found out last week though my cervix was also taken. I am on Estrace 1mg daily. I too am very afraid. Pre surgery I suffered greatly with continual cycles and severe mood swings, ovulation pain. To be honest from Dec to surgery that are not many days I was not bleeding. March was very heavy and I only had 8 days no cycles. Now I have had bleeding every day since surgery ( although not heavy). I cannot wait for that to stop. I had complete foggy brain that was getting worse and worse. I have found great relief since surgery and on HRT. My mental mindset is so much clearer now. A couple days ago I was feeling blue but I am so far very happy.
So they removed all the cancer? I too am on theHRT re surgical menopause as I am 42. For now I'm happy and can only trust my doc and how I feel. Good luck, keep asking questions for your situation. I know I'll be asking more about HRT at my 6 week appt.

MJB68 - PADS/TAMPONS
Oh yes this made me laugh so much as well. Just prior to srugery I e-mailed my girlfriends and told them I have lots of free products for them. Little did I know I'd now be running low on liners. No more SUPER THICK/LONG PADS. YAH for that. I cannot imagine what it is going to feel like for all us when we truly realize cycles are behind us.

Re: Recovery Progress Reports for Hysterectomy dates Apr 02-Apr 08,2012
I love love love reading all the posts from you ladies. Some make smile, some make me frown, but they all let me know we are supportive and not alone.
I am 4 wks post op today I go for my first follow up appointment tomorrow afternoon.
Yesterday DH, my two rottweilers, and I went for a 3/4 mile walk. The past few times I have walked our female and DH has walked the male. The male usually lumbers along and walks very slow the entire time, dh is almost dragging him near the end. Since I have been walking slowly, I walked the male this time. Wouldn't you know it this was the walk he was high energy, trotting sometimes and making me walk faster than I have been (almost my pre-surgery pace) for just about half of our walk!! Of course in the home stretch he was tired and we were walking slow again. It was fun to see him as energetic as he was and he pushed me so it was good for all of us.
Happy Healing everyone!!

I've been off caffeine for 4 weeks. I was a coke drinker and don't ever drink coffee. Stopped the coke because of the gas. I'm not even eating chocolate! I'm so freaking tired today but can't nap. I haven't even mustered up the energy to get in the shower yet, and it almost 2PM.

Y'know, Cath, your posts remind me of those children's books that use pictures in place of words. Hahaha! I love them!
I am still drinking my Diet Pepsi. I should stop, but that and dark chocolate are the two things I just can't seem to get away from...
