Re: Recovery Progress Reports for Hysterectomy dates Apr 02-Apr 08,2012

My optimisim concerning my frequent soft BM are now concerning me again. I advised hubby I went 6+ times again today. He doesn't think this is normal. I am seeing family doc tomorrow 3:30 PM. So I hope to find out more. I'm happy to be loosing weight but maybe my body isn't keeping any nutrients. Does anyone else have continually soft BM's at 5 weeks??

Re: Recovery Progress Reports for Hysterectomy dates Apr 02-Apr 08,2012

Well, I thought I was doing well, but felt since my post op appt on 5/1 things were "off" down there. I continued to have pain when urinating and cramping but my doc said things were "settling". I said "but this is getting worse, not better, and I'm entering week 5 of recovery." Nothing was done. I called her today bc now the sharp pains were both before a BM and during a pee. Quite jarring, I told her. I got lab work done and voila! A UTI. ugh. I've never had one before and the sharp jabbing pain is awful! I have no bleeding or fever though. I have to wait a day to get my antibiotics though, which stinks bc of timing and I can't to the pharmacy til mid day tomorrow

Almost 5 weeks in and NOW I get a UTI? I've been very careful, drinking water, taking vitamins, resting...where have these germs been hiding? I've had no visitors to the love cave! Is this a normal thing weeks into recovery? I've read it's common post op after a catheter, but now? My innards are not happy.

Sorry Brimbles, can you check to see if the pharmacy delivers. I had no idea they still do this but my pharmacy told me they deliver. Get those meds as fast as you can.

Kim, have you tried upping your fiber? The fiber might firm things up so that you don't have to go as often.

That is terrible. I think because our bodies are dealing with so much else in the healing stakes things slip through to the wicket keeper and maybe that is why you have a UTI now. We asre asking a lot of our poor bodies and I think sometimes they just go "Ok I have done all this for you but I just don't have the strength to fight this one off too".

Get those antibiotics as soon as you can and it will make the world of difference, I know as I used to get lots of UTIs when I was younger. Also get some cranberry juice it is really good for this.

Thanks, I was feeling *so close to a relative norm and felt my body going in the opposite direction. I even bought cranberry juice to drink right after surgery to try and get ahead of the game

I JUST got cranberry supplements this weekend too, ironically. Antibiotics it is. I hope this is the last hurdle.

First day back to work today. Could only manage 3 hours. Back was hurting worse than anything. I think that was due to being in a different chair and using different muscles. Tomorrow I'm working from home so I can break up the time a little bit more.

YES and YES!! My doc has advised me to get it under control before my next visit but I can get them solid for a day and back to dairrhea 5+ times a day the next week. It has been causing my vaginal cuff stitches some delays in healing. Fuuny how it all ties together. I hope your doc can give you some advice tomorrow and that you can get it under control. It is no fun at all!!!

I was treated in the ER Sunday for a kidney infection.I had bad back pain for over a week, but ignored it thinking it was from so much time in my recliner. I also had brown urine for over a week and ignored that too thinking it was just post op discharge at first. I felt icky and flu like for a while and Lara told me that wasn't normal and to go get checked since she had an infection.

I had my surgery April 4 and was diagnosed at the ER with a kidney infection Sunday. They told me I most likely had a bladder infection from the catheter and it went untreated and turned into a kidney infection. You probably didn't get this after you got home, was probably just lurking and your body tried to fight it off as long as it could. Hope your feeling better soon.
