Re: Recovery Progress Reports for Hysterectomy dates Apr 02-Apr 08,2012
Tomrrow I go back to the doc it will be my 2wk apt. That is 3 appointments there this week. I have been resting all day to prepare for tomorrow. I am hoping to get the stitches out so I can take a shower. I am hoping that the left side ball is not a hernia and just something that goes away. Yesterday the nurse found 3 hard balls, so maybe that is just the way I heal? I think it is impossible not to use your abs, as advised. My daughter and I made 11 friendship bracelets yesterday, beads easily strung on plastic string and knotted.. I was exhausted.... is this what getting old will be like? I sure hope not.

You said you felt confined to the house because your pants don't fit? Sweetheart, your supposed to be confined to the house right now, resting and walking a bit, that's all. My doctor didn't want me in a car unless I was going to the ER or her office for at least 2 weeks. Your insides are healing even if you feel better. You won't heal properly if you don't let all your energy go to the healing.Other women post about doing other activities at 2 weeks or less, and sure enough a day or 2 later I see them post about new bleeding and pain and how they think they over did it. You'll recover way faster and more complete if you out back on your pajamas, sit down and watch TV or read books for another week or so. You might get bored, but it's better than having to get an additional surgery down the road because you damaged something going to a crowded outdoor concert in the park at 2 weeks post op.

2 1/2 weeks post op. My poor dog with the broken leg has gotten so many haircuts here on the couch!
I was supposed to go to a parent meeting (I'm a teacher) tonight but my principal called and said he didnt want to see me there. Its so good to get that support. I'm still considering whether or not to go back next week.
I have lost all motivation to do anything productive but I guess that's best for my poor aching belly.

Re: Recovery Progress Reports for Hysterectomy dates Apr 02-Apr 08,2012
Hi everyone. Today was my follow up appt. with the doc. She said that I was healing very well, which is great. She suggested 1000Mg Vitamin C and a heating pad to aide in the continued healing process. She also suggested some easy walking or eliptical training at the gym if I wanted to. I am quite amazed they would suggest mild exercise, but I have been doing pretty good other than the energy issue.
I am a very active athletic person, so I think because of that they want me to keep moving, but not obviously so much I set myself back. I think the aches I am having now is just having to sit on my *** for the last two weeks. :-)
Anyway, the one bummer is that she found a band of endometriosis hanging out in my bowels which she could not remove for concern of bowel damage. I did retain my ovaries because they were healthy, although she did say there was a cyst, but it was not abnormal or anything.
But since my uterus was full of adenomyosis we got most of the entire problem out for sure. She said she will continue to monitor me, etc. Although I will say I do not want to go through any of this again for crying out loud!
Anyway, I told her I was hoping to return to work by Monday, and she did not see a problem with that, so I am just going to see how things go and I will back off as necessary.
Despite being a bit bored I have enjoyed some time away from the job. :-)
I hope the rest of you hang in there, and just know that better days are ahead for all of us.
All my best,
Tammy S.

Re: Recovery Progress Reports for Hysterectomy dates Apr 02-Apr 08,2012
pchga, I found yoga pants that the waist band flips down or up. so I flip them up and there is no string or anything, they are so comfortable and can almost look like a black dress pant. I have a hard time with underwear so I say underware optional, lol.... I would be tempted to do an outdoor concert only if it is one in a park where I can plant a comfy chair.... wait I would have to use the public bathroom and I dont think I can deal with those odors or hygene issues or waiting in line. Good luck with that decision.....

Re: Recovery Progress Reports for Hysterectomy dates Apr 02-Apr 08,2012
I am 2.5 weeks post op. I have had a few major emotional meltdowns. I really flet out of control and even had one night of waking up every 15 minutes panicking and confused. It was so scary. Not sure if that is normal but it is what it is. lol Physically,it is so hard to stay on the couch when I am feeling well. I get gas pains....horrible....and some sharp pains in my right side that come and go but when none of that is happening I really forget to take it easy. With three young kids and one being 6 months, I cant be out too long. With a husband that works about 90 hours a week, the ten pound rule has always been obsolete for me. I am hoping all is fine at my next doctors appt. All in all, I am doing pretty well.

Re: Recovery Progress Reports for Hysterectomy dates Apr 02-Apr 08,2012
Woohoo!
Catheter came out yesterday!
2wk check up with doc. all is well. See her in a yr if no problems.
I feel yuck today. Really hazy, and I have no energy.
Not really in 'pain', but super tender and beat up feeling.
Lower tummy feels swelled and sore. I'm so bored with resting, but will hang in there and take it one day at a time and not over-do it.
((healing hugs to all))
