I gained about 20 lbs before surgery, and came out having lost 10. I cannot imagine trying to diet right now.

You're right...it was a pretty healthy meal...I have a bunch left. Send yr dh over to pick up carry out! lol Kudos on the 6 lbs! I hope to be back in a bathing suit by the time I'm healed. It's beach weather now, and it's killing me not to go. (I can't go and NOT get in the ocean!!!)

3 weeks post op- still bleeding

Hi, I'm three weeks post op tomorrow. Bleeding started week 2. Now walking more, making dinners and folding, putting laundry away. Bloated but now having BM's. Am I doing too much, causing bleeding. Worried about my Estrace 1mg. What long term effects it will have on me. I have no ovaries. I'm 42 years old.

I don't think we're slow healers at all. I think for some of us - definately for me, I went into this without all of the information or understanding of just how involved this surgery is. I had 4 previous c-sections and I find this recovery much more complicated. Believe it or not, if it wasn't for this site, I would still have no clue about the healing taking place on the inside or the fact that I have stitches in there. My surgeon did not even tell me this! I had to ask after reading it here. I can relate to being quick to tire out. I will feel up to doing a simple task, just nice & slow, very careful and then i will feel nausiated and so tired from it after.
I also have some mental intrusions like the thought of getting my taxes done on time, paying bills, etc., but I just don't have the mental endurance to get it done.
I feel really bad for my husband. I am such a ****** these past few weeks & he is very understanding about it, but I just can't stand myself at times.
By the way, looking at these dusty, dog hair covered hard wood floors is driving me crazy too. I'm going to try really hard this week to surrender to this whole process.
Well wishes to all of you :-)

MJ, I am with you. All I knew about hysters was the options of vag/lap or open only to be told I dont have an option it has to be open. Then I was told it was the best thing ever to happen and I will feel better than I have ever felt in years. I started to read on hystersisters and I heard that the horror stories would scare me and make me too scared for the surgery, so i quit reading until after the hyster. And to be honest I think they were right, I would have been not sleeping and scared out of my mind now that I read, not just here on our page but on other pages. I dont think having the hyster was optional to me, my adhesions were crazy twisting up my bladder and uterus with other issues going on. I am reading and learning daily. I think we are taking time to heal and that is a good thing for those of us who chose to. If I have a hernia and require another surgery in a month I want to be healed as much as a person can be for it. I like what you said about a few weeks of discomfort for years of suffering, amen!

Re: 3 weeks post op- still bleeding

Oshawa, did you tell your doc you were bleeding that long of a time? i havent had any bleeding since I got out of the hospital, my doc said spotting happens when you do to much, it shouldnt continue once you rest I would think. Ask your doc. I had everything taken out and am on the V-Patch. My doc said my cancer risks were cut down once ovaries and cervix removed, slight risk of stroke/heart attack. Feeling normal is worth it. I was 2yrs post meno before surgery and did not take anything. So ask your doc again what is right for you, everyone is different.

Re: Recovery Progress Reports for Hysterectomy dates Apr 02-Apr 08,2012

Hi all,

Tomorrow marks three weeks since my surgery. Like Smilin, I had the horrors reading about others' experiences before my procedure and waited until afterward to check in and compare. I also knew very little about what to expect. I had no idea that at this point I still would not be ready to return to work! My doctor said (before the surgery) that three weeks was plenty of time.

Lucky for me my principal is insisting I take another week off. I'm probably going to try for a couple of half days at the end of the week. I'm just not very mobile yet!

I'm up north with my SO for the weekend. We went to a baby shower yesterday. It was great to interact with people and even better to see things besides the four walls of the bedroom at my parents' house. I cant get enough of looking around, like a puppy on a walk.

I think I overdid it though, as I've had some spotting today. I'm feeling okay though, just a little tired. I'm resting in bed this afternoon. My SO is a little cranky, what with my condition and the dog's broken leg and wanting to be more active working on the property up here. We are taking a break for a couple hours while I lie down and catch up here and chores get done outside. A nice compromise.

I am crying very easily and my feelings are easily hurt these last couple of days. My ovaries must be wakin up? I dont know. Libido is returning too. Speaking of, do any of you know about how soon it's advisable to wait until the Big O?

It is inspiring to read about all you strong women making it through this recovery. Thank you for your stories and advice!

Re: 3 weeks post op- still bleeding

Dear OshawaLady,

I also have had my ovaries removed with my hyst. I went through menopause in 2005 so I already had hot flashes, etc. I was told to use Estrace 1gram because it will help the healing. My surgeon said I only have to do it for 3 more weeks, or to continue it if I wish.
Since it's only a small amount, maybe it has more good results than risks. I am post-op 2 weeks and 2 days.

Re: Recovery Progress Reports for Hysterectomy dates Apr 02-Apr 08,2012

Hi I am new here! I had my surgery on April 4th. I found this website afterwards and wish I would have seen it sooner. I understood that If I didn't have the surgery I would be in constant pain. In september I started have pain, I was sent to several different doctors that said they didn't know what was wrong with me and sent me to someone else, until I met with my current dr that had to a lap to find out what was going on. My uterus was boggy, sitting to far back and pulling to the right, causing a hernia on the left side ligament, had dilated blood vessels, and endometireds. It then took me four months to become and convince my doctor I was ready for the surgery, Im 24. I should have but I did and even watched YouTube videos of producered done. I started to freak myself out but the day before I couldn't move. Physically I feel great but emotionally I don't know what's going on I was shopping the other day and teared up when I walked by the baby stuff. But I dont even want another child.
