I see so many of you suffering and i feel so bad for you. I am day 5 post op from my TLH and have only had to have ibuprofin for the last couple of days. I am up and taking little walks then crashing for a nap. As long as i dont do anything stupid, i dont feel any worse than before surgery. I do swell up like a balloon after my walks and have temps that fluctuate quite a bit. I am able to sleep on my side with my pillow pet. All in all it just hasnt been bad.

Re: Recovery Progress Reports for Hysterectomy dates Apr 09-Apr 15,2012

Hi everyone,

I had TAH, ovaries intact, on April 11/12. I had a spinal plus light general anesthetic, because a full GA makes me extremely nauseated. My level of nausea was very mild.

I spent the first two nights in hospital, with the morphine pump available. I used it the first day/night, into the morning, then it seemed that the Tylenol plus NSAID I was given was keeping the pain down. Ended up being very uncomfortable for the night and finally opted to keep up the pump til morning.

My advice to anyone who wants to cut back on pain meds but finds themselves going back - just listen to your body! It's sure better being comfortable than being in pain.

And for gas pain - wow, I never expected it to go on so long. The second night post op was really bad. Can't tell you how excited the nursing staff and Dr. were that I was passing, though!

I've had severe night sweats since coming home. Not fun. I've also only had one small BM. On the advice I've read here I just sent my DH out for some BM encouraging foods.

I had two fibroids, one the size of a grapefruit, the other a bit smaller. You could see them on my abdomen, so I am really glad they are gone. Felt like the aliens had taken over!

I'm following everyone's advice on rest, and gradually getting back to doing what I normally do. My goal is to be on the golf course sooner than later! All the best to everyone!

Honey I know just how you feel. I also had a lot of pain while my sisters steadily improved. I spent most of the first two weeks in bed with the heating pad. It was very discouraging and I deeply regretted the surgery. Take heart, it does get better, I promise you. If your pain is still bad on Monday, put a call into your doctors office and let them know. My first few months were constantly one step forward and two steps back. It isnt easy but you will get through this.

Day 5 post op. Still very tender and sore, feeling pulling, tired, dizzy. Tummy is down to half what it was post op, still somewhat bigger, but I can wear my normal clothes. Invited out for supper by my bf, picking me up at 7. Going to rest a bit first. Put on my contact lenses today for the first time, and will put on a bit of make up, so I will feel better. Only taking Tylenol Extra Strength. Allergic to ibuprophen so I can't take any anti-inflamatory drugs. Slowly, slowly...

TAH with right ovary and tube on 4/9. Not taken anything for pain since Wednesday but now on Benedryl around the clock for an allergic reaction to the adhesive with the steri-strips. Blisters from hip to hip and very, very itchy. My husband feels it looks like it is improving, just going to take awhile to completely go away. Has anyone else had a similar problem?

Re: Recovery Progress Reports for Hysterectomy dates Apr 09-Apr 15,2012

today is POD#6. pain was worse yesterday and even more so today. i think its becausd my lil cat jumped on my belly yesterday! she was laying next to me as i lay on my back. she jumped on me to.get off the bed. Anyway, today was a little more rough and i'm thinking its because if Princess Jasmine! So ive lay around a lot today, set my cell phone alarm to take the ibuprofen every 6 hrs (even over night) i think that helped. I had taken 1 percocet today and it helped.
..do what ya gotta do right?!

Anyway, happy healing ladies. I dont think it will be in vain.

POD #6 and making some progress. Had a 2 hour visit from one of my best friends, and sat upright through it. Pain is very minimal, but swelly belly has flared up. Managed to walk to the end of my block and back this afternoon with my DH and trusty golden retriever. I know there is still a lot of healing ahead, and I am taking things slow, but I am starting to feel more myself than before surgery.

Hugs to all!

POD #6 and feeling good. Actually got up and fixed my hair and put contacts in. I did some dishes and put some dinner in the crockpot for my family. I even got brave and went out for ice cream and then to the store for a few things. Took 1 Percocet today and it knocked me out for a couple hours. Not having too much pain today except for my belly button which got stepped on by the cat last night.
Resting in bed now and will probably stay here for the rest of the night.
Hope all my sisters are healing well and getting the rest you need.

I'm sitting here reading how some of you are going out to shop, eat, etc. and wondering if you all are nuts!!!!! I thought I was doing pretty good just walking around the house and sitting in a chair for a couple hours at a time. Are you really healing that quickly or are you going to be suffering for overdoing it later? Please be careful girls, it's only been a few days. And it was major surgery.

I probably am nuts LOL But I'm being careful on my outings. Walking very slowly, not picking things up and having others do stuff for me. I just had to get out of the house for a while.
