I have six incisions-one in the belly button, one on each side of the belly button at the same level, two on the lower right side of my belly and one on the lower left side. They are all a couple of inches long and are very hardened behind the scars. I had a c-section with my first child and I wish that I had the same type of incision because at least then I would still have been able to wear a bikini without the scars showing.

Re: Recovery Progress Reports for Hysterectomy dates Apr 09-Apr 15,2012

Hi ladies. I too hit the four week mark yesterday. I am feeling pretty good but still have to take tylenol in the morning and again before bed. But thats not to bad I guess. My energy is slowly coming back to normal. I still have a lot of discomfort when I need to use the bathroom (bms) but I guess that will pass in time. We are planning a drive up north this weekend and I will be in the car for 11hours. I am little nervous about this but I am planning to sit in the front with the seat fully reclined so I wont be sitting up and making my stomach hurt. We are going to take our time and just stop when we need to. So I think it will be ok. So sad my four year is a much better traveler than I am. LOL

Hoksi- I have five little scars. Two on each side of my stomach and one larger one at the top of my belly button. They are all healing nicely and just look like pink scratches now. I also have stitches in the vagina but I have no clue what that looks like. LOL I havent even tried to look or touch them so no clue.

SciFisister- I am taking two tylenol after breakfast and two before bed. I also keep two in my purse incase I need them during the day when we are out and about but have only had to take that once or twice. Mostly just morning and bedtime. I would perfer to take Aleve or Advil but both upset my stomach so all I can do is tylenol.

Hope you all are feeling well and resting. Have a wonderful Wednesday.

Thanks JewlToU! I wonder if an anti-inflammatory would help my waistline. My next Dr appt isn't until the day I go back to work and my Dr although sweet as can be swears up and down all his hyster patiends recovered beautifully. Whatever! I"m going to try on clothes today to see what I can wear and what I can't.

Re: Recovery Progress Reports for Hysterectomy dates Apr 09-Apr 15,2012

Well today is 4 wks and 1 day post op. Incisions are looking much much better and the seepage has pretty much stopped!! I am getting some twinges in the pelvic area but no spotting really. Just maybe every now and again a little brown tinge on the toilet paper. I have been off Miralax for a week now and going on my own.

My only pain now is my right abdomen feels like a pulled muscle or something. I think I may have pulled something when the riding lawn mower jerked me the other day. It was sort of like a horse bucking the way my body went. No bleeding or anything so I don't think I did anything. But it sort of feels like a stitch in my side like a runner's cramp. I've been taking it really easy and hoping I really didn't do anything. When I watched the DVD of my surgery I noticed I am mostly cauterized on the inside instead of stitches like I thought so I hoping that makes a difference in that nothing was torn open...

Throat is getting better, still feels extremely dry and the acid reflux is also getting better. I'm hoping it will be gone soon. I go back to work 5/21 and was hoping I'd be symptom free by then...... Hope all my sisters are doing well today!!

Ladies. Just wanted to say I hope you all have a great weekend. For those of you who are going back to work next week - and remember to get plenty of rest and don't push yourselves too hard. I did that at first - 12 hour days - and I paid for it! So take it easy on yourself.

Lainey: Have you tried a heating pad? Sounds like a pulled muscle to me too. Hope it feels better soon.

Megs: Have a great trip up north - I'm jealous! I'm in the deep south where it's really hot! Remember to take plenty of breaks so you can get out of the car and stretch your legs. Also, a small pillow between the seat belt and your tummy will help.

krosie: I also have five small incisions from my DvH and they had hard places behind the scars for a few weeks which I assumed was scar tissue. One day I was massaging one and felt/heard a small pop and the hard place went away. So - I proceeded to pop all of them - gently of course - and they are almost completely flat now. I'm guessing that I had some fluid trapped in them.
Not sure massaging them would help you, but it may be worth a try.

I wear Yoga pants with a stretch waist all the time, with loose long tops over, and that works for now. I'm at about 65% of normal now, getting better every week. Resumed sex on Sun. and it was great, so don't worry about that. If it was good before it still will be. Hope you're all doing well, keeping your spirits up, asking for help and support when you need it. Big hugs from TSuzy in Toronto.

shrugged his shoulders? How frustrating that must have been for you- that would set me off to look for another Dr!~ I'm so happy my OBGYN is a female and seems to be willing to sit and listen when I need it!

Oh lucky you. I haven't even thought about sex or anyone touching me there! I enjoyed the laugh though, that sounded so sweet!!

Nonna4, I am taking your suggestion and trying the heating pad. My MIL just reminded me that all this soreness could have been when i vomited Sunday from my antibiotic. It was pretty violent so I'm wondering if that is where all this soreness is coming from. I'll keep you posted and thanks for the help

Re: Recovery Progress Reports for Hysterectomy dates Apr 09-Apr 15,2012

Hello sista's! I feel I've finally turned the corner on my recovery! I was 4 weeks TAH on Monday. I still have a swelly belly, but I no longer seem to have that burning sensation on my right side. I still have to pee alot too, but am able to get a good 8-10 hours of sleep. I wake up, but seem to be able to get back to sleep most of the time. I see my Dr. on the 18th for my next appt which she said would be the internal exam as well. Don't get me wrong, I still have days that I feel some tugging and a little pain with the incision area but most days I am off any meds and able to manage though it which is a blessing!!! Now if my belly would go down so I could wear something other than sweats or yoga pants I'd feel like I'm turning another corner! hope everyone is moving in the right direction with thier recovery, and if you're not, or feel that your not, don't beat yourself up you'll get there in your body's own time and we're here to support you towards reaching that
