LAVH + repair
I had my op on the 3rd April and am doing fine. Reason for hyst was fast growing fibroid and lower abdominal pain. I also had a rectocele repair done at the same time. The only major decision making I had to do was whether or not to keep my ovaries. After a huge amount of research (mostly from the hyster sisters site) I decided to have them removed even though they were healthy. Reason being, to remove the risk of ovarian cancer and I also suffered from the most annoying hormonal swings with only a couple of days a month of feeling normal. Ovulation was sore and had uncomfortable bloating for 10 days, then my period was getting longer and longer even though I had a Mirena coil fitted. So, the hospital was great. They were very caring, explained everything to me so I was never nervous or worried. Pain relief was fantastic (spinal anesthetic plus morphine pump) so never felt uncomfortable. Infact the first 24 hours were spent in a happy fug of contentment Had catheter for 2 days (how refreshing not to have to get out of bed every half an hour!), no problems peeing when it was taken out. Took stool softners and senna and had first BM after 2 days - a little nervous about it but was fine. Spent 3 nights in hospital, was doing little walks around 3 x per day when there. Very tired when came home but have improved every day. Been going on outdoor 10 min walks for a few days now and hope to do a bit longer today. My repair was not big and feels exactly like an episiotomy with stitches going almost to my back passage. I've felt the odd tweak from this but scarcely noticeable. Pain is a bit achey now and then but with pain meds just like a mild period pain. Still taking quite a few pain meds but will hope to be cutting down by next week. Only set back has been a UTI but was so thrilled that there was a reason for my bladder feeling weird that I almost kissed the doc when he told me. All in all it has been a walk in the park. I owe almost all my preperation and support to this forum. When I've posted questions I've received informative answers. I read a few other stories before my op and hoped to find positive ones so I hope this story gives some ladies a bit of reassurance. Best wishes to you all xxx
