Da Vinci is easy
Had my surgery yesterday, and I think the hardest part was finding the right place to check in! I didn't even have to do a bowel prep though I did eat lightly the day before. Nerves will do that to ya.
They had trouble finding a vein for the IV. After 5 failed attempts, they finally pulled an ultrasound machine into the prep room to find one that would work. They put a Dramamine patch behind my ear, said they were putting a mild sedative in the IV to help me relax, and the next thing I know I'm in a recovery room throwing up.
At least... I think that's what I remember? I recall not really being able to open my eyes, saying I"m gonna be sick, and someone holding something under my mouth and telling me to go for it. Which I did.
Then I was in my room, and my hubby was there. Apparently I had called him to let him know where to find me, but I don't remember that, either.
Surgery was at noon. I was up and walking around by 4pm, and peeing by myself. The nurses were just astounded at how quickly I was up. The only thing I felt felt like a really bad menstrual cramp! All the pain medication I needed was ibuprofin.
I could have gone home same day, but decided to stay the night, just in case. Didn't get much sleep, but strangely didn't feel the need for much, either. They released me this afternoon. On the way home, we stopped off to get a prescription for pain and stool softeners. Also I picked up some band-aids with antibiotics built in to cover the incisions if needed.
Haven't had a BM yet, but also not really feeling a strong urge for it, either. I don't even have much of a gas thing going on, either. "Bleeding" is just a little pinkness on the TP when I wipe.
I'm a little slow to stand up or sit/lay down but when I'm still I don't have any pain, and only a little soreness when I do walk around.
I think if I had known it would be this easy, I would have done this a long time ago!
