right side pain after hysterectomy

I am now 4 weeks post op from an abdominal hysterectomy. I am still having a lot of gassy pain. It is becoming so bad that is waking me up at night. It feels like I am having a gallbladder attack. Problem is, I have no gallbladder. I am wondering if it is possible that there are adhesions in that area and that is where my problem ours or is it normal to still have so much gas after 4 weeks?

Thanks for any guidance

I am sorry to hear you are still having gas issues.

Have you talked to your dr about it? Also is it ppssible that post surgery there is something that your diet is producing the gas?

Since my procedure almost 9 weeks ago I get gas like never before - I also eat a lot of veggies but always did but have noticed that for some odd reason when my gassy tummy bloats up it also causes some pressure/pain on my left side by my ovary. I've struggled with the ovary area ever since week 3 on and off. I'm told it's "normal" and will eventually go away but when it flares up (from gas or over doing it) it can make you hurt. It's the internal pressure I'm guessing but I have read a lot of posts on abdominal pain and issues for those who are 6+ weeks post op...seems to be a theme and swelly belly still can be an issue for quite some time..

Re: right side pain after hysterectomy

Sorry your not feeling well, but you will in time. Not sure about the gas problem, but many women do have pain on one side or the other. Mine was in the area where an ovary(which was taken out) had been. It was during weeks 3-5 it bothered me the most. Supposedly just part of the healing process. After that was gone then came cramping, like menstrual cramps (go figure). Gas X, fiber and tons of water helped me in the beginning. I've no secret as to how to get rid of the swelly belly which was a large cause of depression for me. However at 11weeks it's gone for the most part. In the evenings it does return but only a little bit. Hope you feel better soon. Take care & Happy healing!
