5 wks post op: inner stitches coming out?

So I got a dreaded yeast infection, apparently, and called my doctor earlier this week so that I could treat it before next week (my husband is going to die if we can't have sex...lol).

Well, this morning, I had some weird, brownish thread-like substance in my panty. I think it's an inner stitch!

When I wiped (to get some of that excess yeast infection meds from sitting there), I saw a larger thread-like substance, this time with loops.

Are these my inner stitches? When did this happen to everyone else?

Also, did anyone else have a little pain before? I was in some pain last night. Enough to make me want Ibuprofen, but not enough to get up from bed to actually take some.

Re: 5 wks post op: inner stitches coming out?

Hello Bunnistar...After my hyster my gyno told me i should expect to get brownish colored discharge as the stitches are disolving..So i think what your experiencing is yes normal. I had very light brown discharge but didnt actually see any stitches..I have read in here from other women that its normal to see stitches come out as they are healing, and yes i think the slight pain is normal as well, as yep i had lots of little sharp pains here and there throughout the days and that was probably the internal stitches healing,,Ime 6wks post op and i still get sharp and dull little pains in various places so i think what your experiencing is all normal...I actually still have stitches poking out from my belly button so i guess those internal stitches are still healing...But if your concerned it is always a good idea to give your doc a call...Peace be with you

Re: 5 wks post op: inner stitches coming out?

Hi,
I had colorful many colors, of discharge and a few times it looked like these tiny pieces of dried blood and they were very dark and hard, not clots...So that might have been some of my stitches???
As for the outer-sutures my last ones just fell off I'm 6 weeks today, I was wondering if they had to be cut off or something because how can they dissolve when there was nothing to dissolve them so I kept a close eye on the process lol the skin where they were sticking out of formed a tiny scab and it dried up and the remaining stitches just fell right off... Thought that was pretty amazing!!!

Re: 5 wks post op: inner stitches coming out?

I plucked one of my external stitches out last week. It was just sitting in my pore like a plastic hair. Didn't bleed or anything.

Lissy-- I'd like to know more about what people's stitches looked like, just for future reference (umm...obviously not for my "next hysterectomy", but for others in the future).

Mine looked like clothes thread-- like soft fibers. The second one (with loops) was the one that made me think, "Okay, these are probably the stitches coming out...."
