TVH, bladder sling, anterior, posterior and vaginal vault repairs
TVH, bladder sling, anterior, posterior and vaginal vault repairs along with vaginal reconstructive surgery on March 20, 2012.
Every since I had my son in 2003 I've had problems with stress incontinence and very weak vaginal muscles. After my daughter was born in 2006 I started noticing that my cervix was always very low, and at times even peeking out of the vagina. Periods were very irregular. I went to my family doctor and she referred me to a uro-gyn at the local navy hospital. That doctor sent me to physical therapy and gave me a pessary. The therapist said I was doing my kegals right, but my muscles just weren't responding. After a year of using the pessary (at the advice of the uro-gyn) I went to my new family dr, who sent me to a new local uro-gyn at an army hospital (we're military). This doctor did a very thorough exam and informed me that I had a uterine, anterior, posterior and vaginal vault prolapse (stage 2-3 on all) along with my incontinence. We discussed the options and because of my very irregular periods and the prolapse, we settled on a tvh, prolapse repairs, a bladder sling and because my vaginal muscles were so stretched and relaxed we also did vaginal reconstructive surgery. I found this website that evening and it was great to answer my questions and calm my nerves. It was a life saver. I had my surgery in the afternoon of March 20. I was surprisingly very calm. The surgery lasted 4 hours. I went home the next day, with out a cathater but I had to go to the er at 2am to get a new one. That came out a week later. At my 3 week check out my dr said I was healed better than she would have expected at 6 weeks. I don't have to go in again until 3 weeks post op. I'm feeling great and I'm patiently waiting to resume all normal activities.
