Recovery Progress Reports for Hysterectomy dates Apr 23-Apr 29,2012

If your hysterectomy was between Apr 23-Apr 29,2012 this is the place to post your progress during your hysterectomy recovery.

If you have a question about your recovery, please start a new thread to receive answers and support for your concerns instead of including the question in your update! There is information on how to start a new thread in this link: New Here? or you can use this link: Post a New Topic in the Post-Op forum.

Post how you are doing here when you are home and well enough to sit a few minutes at your computer.

We hope you are recovering well with plenty of rest and water and a bit of walking. Don't forget to pamper the princess!

How to use the Recovery Progress Reports thread:

  • 1. This thread is for the purpose of sharing updates on your recovery as you heal from your hysterectomy.

  • 2. Generally, ONE or TWO posts on this thread per member/per day is adequate to share your daily progress and to share encouragement with your surgery week Sisters.

  • 3. Remember to start a new thread on the Post-Op message board to ask your questions.

  • 4. The Progress Report threads will be moved at approximately 8 weeks post-op to the Date Club forum inside the HysterSisters clubhouse.

  • 5. Remember all the love and support you got here as a pre-op member? Now it's YOUR turn to give back to the women in the Pre-Op Hysterectomy Support forum. Extend your hand and your hugs in replies to our pre-op ladies in waiting. This will complete our circle of women helping women!

  • 6. You can also share support and experiences with post-op members in all phases of recovery in the Post-Op Hysterectomy Support forum by replying on the new threads they create.

Welcome princesses to your date support threads! You will post here to support each other through the recovery process. Please remember to post any questions about specific problems on the post op forum to get the benefit of a larger audience and from ladies further along in their recoveries.

Totalhysta and I will be checking in on the thread daily providing some answers, pointing you to other resources on the site and directing you to forums where you might get more answers from members farther along on their recovery journey. There are a lot of resources on this site, including videos, articles and web links and we want to help you find them.

Don't forget to rest, drinks lots of water and follow your orders.

Re: Recovery Progress Reports for Hysterectomy dates Apr 23-Apr 29,2012

as Molly50 said we will be stopping in daily to help guide you all along on this journey, remember to keep a pillow or folded blanket for your tummy, frequent walking will help move gas along, this is the time to take for you, sleep when you want, read a book , watch tv, or movie, knit, web surf, etc...I also echo Molly50's suggestion to follow your doctor's instructions.

Sharing is a big part of this journey, it helps to know you are not alone.

Hi gals! I am home, about 30 hours post-op from my LAVH-Rso. Luckily, she did not have to convert to TAH-Bso. She was able to keep my left ovary! yay!

The hospital stay was pretty uneventful, save for some nausea, which they immediately addressed. I have had less pain than i thought i would!

Re: Recovery Progress Reports for Hysterectomy dates Apr 23-Apr 29,2012

Morning - i have just woken from my laproscopic hysterectomy - still very dopey as had a lot of painkillers over night and was vomiting - but there is a strange & tentative absence of pain at the moment - I woke with a smile as even if it is all the drugs, it's the first time in many many months that I've woken without the cramping contracting protesting uterus pains - and there's no way I'll ever have them again!!! Hope my other sisters around the world wake similarly! I'm determined to be getting better & better (while taking it slow & easy) from here. Healing pain is so different from disease pain - that's my thinking this morning anyway!

Surgery was at 9am. There were complications and I lost a lot of blood - They have been testing me because if numbers didn't improve, I'd need a transfusion. It was a long day, passed out three times, very low blood pressure, but am now better.

Haven't been able to walk yet - so hope I get to go home tomorrow.

Overall, It is going well now.

Much love and prayers to everyone, More later

Oh Miss Elaineous
I am so sorry to hear your surgery had complications. Please go gently on yourself. Rest up and don't rush home if you need the hospital care. I'm trying to take the same advice myself...not getting too far from bed, despite all good intentions, & in some pain but taking it easy today. There will be time, there will be time, as the poets say.

Re: Recovery Progress Reports for Hysterectomy dates Apr 23-Apr 29,2012

Just had my Davinci hyster yesterday. I'm still in the hospital. The gas pains are the worst of it at the moment. I had my catheter removed an hour ago and just now peed on my own with no troubles. My doctor said I definitely had adenomyosis and that my uterus was also very vascular. I had tons and tons of cysts in one of my fallopian tubes, so she took that tube out. I'm starving. I haven't eaten real food since 9:00 pm Monday night. I'm waiting for my doctor to check me so she can write the order to let me eat something besides jello.

All in all, my recovery is going well.

Re: Recovery Progress Reports for Hysterectomy dates Apr 23-Apr 29,2012

Good Morning All - Glad you are all finding your way to this thread - sharing helps make this journey not so lonely.

Alicathelton - So happy for you that you kept your ovary and that the surgery did not turn into something more involved.

Miss Elaineous - I hope you are doing better now and did not need a blood transfusion after all

Angel2012 - what a nice feeling to wake with a smile after this surgery, - hoping your recovery continues to be smooth and pain free

Abagayle - isnt the jello the worst lol for me it was the orange jello...gas can be bad with your type of surgery, once you get up moving the gas should also move through quicker

To you all rest when required, walking helps so small walks frequently will help alot especially to move the gas along, with BM, fluids is just as important so remember to drink water lots of water.

You may also feel groggy and sleepy for the first week due to the anesthic they used, it takes awhile for the body to work it out of your system, most importantly follow your dr's instructions,

Have a Great day of healing
