Re: Recovery Progress Reports for Hysterectomy dates Apr 23-Apr 29,2012

I'm now 4 days post-op and am not taking anything for pain at all. I needed ibuprofen for the first three days, but by today I'm almost pain free. I have a little tenderness and I can tell my vagina feel uncomfortably swollen and that's about it. All of the pain and discomfort I had before the surgery is gone.

My TAH was April 27th at 7am - I had no complications - although the surgery took much jointer than anticipated - the fibroid was equivalent to a 40 week old pregnancy - weighing 17 pounds. The picture were awesome.

In post op I had terrible bladder bader spasms, and the pain was worst than the incision pain - but I have wonderful nurses, and the spasms were calmed with a simple ice pack.

Hope to go home Tuesday.

This morning I feel a little better. Disappointed I'm still taking pain meds - really want to be off them, but I think the hematoma and other complications have slowed this part of the recovery.

I'm looking forward to taking a walk outside today, and getting into some sort of routine on Monday again - nothing heavy, just a nice routine.

I had a rough night. In between the thunder and lightening last night and a horrific headache, I got very little actual sleep. I laid down to sleep at what I thought was 11 PM and the next thing I know it's 330 AM. I went back to "sleep" for what it was worth and then woke up again with another horrific headache. The wounds are dry still but the pain is still there and is driving me a little nutty. I kinda feel like there's a tight balloon in my abdomen but this headache is like a screwdriver being drilled into my head.

I hope you ladies have a better day.

i thought about taking up crochet or knitting but couldn't wrap my head around it. I've got a lot of books I want to read but can't seem to bring myself to read them yet. So, I'm wasting time watching TV or surfing the internet or pinning things on pinterest.

Re: Recovery Progress Reports for Hysterectomy dates Apr 23-Apr 29,2012

Good morning. I am 3 days out from my surgery and I think I am doing ok. I came home yesterday and have been resting in between getting up and doing some walking around. I slept from 12am-8:30am so that was pretty good. So what I have going on today:

I haven't taken any pain meds since 5pm last night. I had been taking Motrin 600 every 6 hours. I feel like I might take one here soon, but trying to get by without it. My doctor also gave me a prescription for Vicodin, but I've not used that at all.

I had diarrhea from about 4pm yesterday until just before bed. I guess that's better than being constipated, but was not enjoyable LOL I have IBS so I'm sure my system is a little confused and irritated. My husband is going to the grocery store today, and I'm going to make sure and get a lot of bland, healthy choices to try and avoid this issue. I just had some toast and I'm starting to have tummy rumblings so this just might be status quo for a few days.

I still have a low grade fever and have some junk coming up when I cough. I had a crackle in my lungs and a fever before I left the hospital but I think that is starting to resolve.

Pain wise, I have a little tenderness around my four incision sites and I feel like I've done way too many sit-ups. A lot of muscle soreness.

My plan today is to let my husband and kids take care of me while I catch up on some TV shows and let the healing continue. I'll get up and do some walking several times and continue using the little "cough contraption" they gave me to get the rest of this stuff out of my lungs.

Hope everyone has a great day!
