5 days post-op - Just urious about pain and activity...
Hi....had a LAVH on April 18th. I have been keeping the pain pills (Dilaudid) coming every 3 to 4 hours since arriving home after surgery, until today. Decided to let the full pain kick in to see where I am with it. After 8 hours I was about at a 4, with pain across my abdomen, pressure in my bladder and vagina. One hour after taking the pill I'm at a one...two hours later, at a two. I've been wickedly lazy, as per just about every recommendation I've read. I am blessed with a loving husband and a worry-wart teenage son. I have only walked around the house, taken showers daily, made myself a sandwich, and put away a few clothes, to count for anything productive since surgery. The plan is to take a walk around the cul de sac and putz around straightening my recouperation room tomorrow.
SO...do you think my pain levels are "normal"? My husband refilled my Dilaudid today, and the nurse practitioner suggested to him that I shouldn't be in "that much pain" at this stage. I don't really know where she came up with that, since she hasn't spoken with me, didn't ask my husband how often I'm taking the pills, what my pain level is, or anything of the kind. She did have him make an appointment with my surgeon for day after tomorrow, however, which is fine with me, rather than waiting another week.
Any input would be much appreciated.

Your pain levels sound pretty reasonable to me. You could probably take something milder though if your pain is only getting to 4 at 8 hours. Anyway, if you are going to see the doctor tomorrow, you can discuss it with him.
