SAH -- 3 weeks and counting

I had my SAH three weeks ago on April 9, 2012 and I would like to think it was the best choice that I could ever make. I was diagnosed two years with Fibroids after experiencing some pain that was incredible and spent a year fighting them. The first doctor I went to only offered me a hysterectomy so we got a second opinion. I wanted more options before having a hysterectomy. The next doctor said he could help me and was put on Lupron. Lupron gave me the time i needed. I had no more periods, pain or any major problems while on this.

In Oct of 2011, we tried to do a myomectomy but it was discovered that the fibroid was too large to do that so we decided to continue with the Lupron. We finally came to the decision that a hysterectomy was my next choice and I started making arrangements to have one.

So, on April 9, I had a SAH and the surgery was a success despite the doctor nicking my bladder when he was removing a very large fibroid that was literally attached to my uterus. They were both sitting on my bladder. I stayed in the hospital for three days and went home with a catheter. Despite the cath, i am recovering pretty well. I have pain but that is being managed and I was able to be rid of the cath three weeks later.

I am not sure what i would have done if I had not discovered Hystersisters, but I am so glad I did. I was looking for information on hysterectomies and one of the searches was the hystersisters.com. I went to the site and was amazed by what I discovered. I am so happy that I found this site and it has been so helpful. When I had questions, needed information, or just needed to talk; someone would answer. I have told everyone I know about this site and I am so grateful for the hystersisters. Hystersisters.com is simply amazing!
