Need help, support and or guidence

Well I am 29 years old, with 2 births. 3 years ago in Nov. I had a LEEP procedure to deal with the abnormal paps. And every since then during my cycle for one or two days i have really bad cramps that compares to labor pains, 90% of the time during intercourse I bleed (very much of a turn off), painful intercourse, and just recently if I bear down too hard during a bowel movement, I bleed. My doctor couldn't tell me what was going on and here within the last month (4 weeks) I found out that the procedure really messed me up, and had the ultrasound and found out that I either have fibrous tissue in the back of the uterus (sensitivity when pressure in applied) or that god forsaken endo. Just found out that I can either take the BC that was given to me along with the pain scrips or have the hyster. Been talking to my mom and my grandmother and they both tell me that I should have the surgery, and just found out that they both had the surgery due to problems around my age. I am kinda concidering the surgery due to the family history, but I am second guessing myself. Does anyone have any advice or anything to help me. Everyone that I have talked to had problems and they didnt have that choice and here I do. I cant have anymore kids now due to a tubal that I had done. Im lost.

Seeing as the choice to have more children is out I would go with thesurgery if it will give yo a better quality of life. Mine was by choice as well but because of horrible pain the choice was an easy one to make for me. Yes the recovery is painful as well but there is light at the end of the tunnel because hopefully no more problems down there once I fully recover.
So it all depends on your level of pain and how long you want to be on pain meds for. I was at the point where I was taking oxy for the pain and didn't want to chance becoming addicted so easy choice to make.

well the pain meds that i am on is tramadol and naproxen. both is every 8 hours so i take one and then 4 hours later i take the other. I do that so the pain dont get too unbearable. you know its bad when the pain goes down my legs.

Without a definite diagnosis, I don't recommend you make a decision to have a hysterectomy. A hysterectomy does not resolve all issues, it is not a risk free surgery, and it can open the door to new health issues. Yes, my mom had her TVH young and did just find. My aunt was older but also fine, even having a day surgery for her TVH. Surgically, my grandmother did find for her TAH/BSO, but surgical menopause was a nightmare. My hysterectomy, on the other hand, was a completely different story with complication after complication.

Additionally, if the problem is endometriosis, a hysterectomy is not a cure. If you have a surgeon who does not have exceptional skills when it comes to recognizing and removing it (and most OB/GYN's don't), you can continue to live with pain and symptoms. Ask me how I know!

Before making your final decision, you should definitely get a second opinion. Not all doctors have the same skills and knowledge and you never know when one will have some new or less invasive treatment or even hysterectomy type that will be right for you! If there is any chance you have endometriosis, look for a doctor who specializes in treating it.

well the endo isnt definate but the tissues is. yes im tired of being in pain and always having to take pain pills. the bc is giving me headaches and now since taking the pills im hurting all the time and also family history im scared and thinking of having the surgery

Hi 3rd_gen. I think I would be very tempted to have the surgery if I were suffering with your symptoms, however, as Weiser advised, I would see an endo specialist first and get a definitive diagnosis. It sounds like there's a lot going on here. MRI is much better than U/S, at diagnosing endo but neither can detect adhesions very well. If you do have adhesions and/or endo, you really need a doctor who specializes in the excision of these materials. The Center for Endometriosis Care has a wonderful website and is a good place to get the info you need. If you go there, click on the educational library link. There is a great discussion of how they perform hysterectomies to remove all endo tissue and prevent adhesions. Finding the right diagnosis and doctor will take a little longer but in the end you'll have a better chance of getting the relief you need (and it sounds like you really need relief!). Good luck.

well i have done the research on the office that i go to, UTMG here in memphis, and they are REAL good, they even done my tubal (even though they do what i requested, because one i was still young and two they are a teaching hospital). i had made the call to get the ball rolling and after looking at the encounter form and looking in all my med books, its scary

all the above is not normal for me and it all started 2 years ago, even hearing what the u/s said and my medical history and added family history, i think its the right thing to do, also as a stated earlier the endo isnt definate, the lining of my uterus(the back part) is like the fibroids but its the tissue, it is very touchy and hurts, even as i am writting this im hurting, guess i need to take a pill (yea right now i am a pill head)
