Did you have morphine? It gives me HORRIBLE nightmares. That's why I asked for no morphine.

Random knowledge for today: the person who created morphine named it after Morpheus, the Greek god of dreams. I wonder who the god of nightmares is?

You are a very expressive writer. Thank you for the real LOL, even if I had to hold my belly!

Re: Recovery Progress Reports for Hysterectomy dates Apr 30-May 06,2012

So I just finished reading through every post in this thread. Thank you ladies! The internet is a WONDERFUL thing. Where else could we talk about our BMs and with so many people that went through this at the same time? There is more combined first hand knowledge here then we could ever get from a doctor. What a wonderful supplement. (As for my BMs... still painful!)

So far I've learned...
I'm really out of touch with my body. I've never had crippling gas pain before, but two gas-x chewable tablets knocked out what I thought was post surgery pain. That's sad!

Also, for anyone that may read this that hasn't had the surgery yet:
Plan carefully what you will wear home from the hospital. I had a long, flowy skirt with a drawstring waistband. It was perfect.

Things I couldn't do recovery without: gas-x chewable tablets; lots and lots of pillows (and a round bolster for under my knees); an eye mask (sleeping during the day is weird for me); baggy clothes, light PJs, and cotton panties that are 2 sizes bigger than normal; a heating pad; my kindle (LOVE downloading new books instantly); and Netflix has been a big help to keep the stircraziness away. I have a ton of comedies lined up. Just watched Bridesmaids lol.

I think I will be off work for a few more weeks. I had to make a couple of phone calls for my short term disability today and it really wore me out. About to go for a walk with DH then more resting is in order.

Thanks for all the love and support!!!

Another night of boredom followed by another day of boredom. Maybe my life will be more interesting now that I downloaded the hangman app game on my BB lol.

My clothing has consisted of flowy tops & tunics and believe it or not fold-down yoga pants... I don't fold it down, instead I fold it over my belly and it feels pretty good-supportive. Drawstring anything is a must, plus lots of pillows all around.

As for getting stitches removed earlier today and walking a bit more... I'm in a lot of pain this evening. The pain meds aren't cutting it tonite

Re: Recovery Progress Reports for Hysterectomy dates Apr 30-May 06,2012

Well ladies, I hadn't read the latest since last night..wow. I was started having pain in the "cuff" early this morning but it went away with 3 ibuprofen. Later during the day, I was hurting more today...one week from surgery just like some others mentioned...I think it is a combination of quitting the pain meds..and doing alittle more yesterday. So, tonight, back on pain meds...and tomorrow more rest. I just didn't want to run out of them. As for those venturing out, best wishes. I'm avoiding being around in public...our immune system is suppressed...and sore throats are going around in our small town. I have a funeral to attend on sat...I"m thinking I won't be able to make it...I am not stir crazy enough to take the risk. I will send a card.
Hang in there ladies...this too shall pass.

I hope everyone has a better night.
Hugs to my sisters.

Re: Recovery Progress Reports for Hysterectomy dates Apr 30-May 06,2012

My in-laws are in town...they're here to support me for four days. They are such lovely people, it really lifts my spirits to have them around. One pain pill tonite, just at the end of the day. It's hard to balance pain when you want to do more and be more active. I am just taking it one day at a time.

Hope tomorrow is a wonderful day for all of us sisters! We all deserve a good day. *hugs*

Re: Recovery Progress Reports for Hysterectomy dates Apr 30-May 06,2012

Tonight I had so much fun! My cousin and two really good friends brought over some junk food and chick flicks and we hung out in our pajama pants and sweat pants and laughed. It felt so good to have some girlfriends to talk to. Two of which have had a hyst in the past. My hubby and boys cleaned up the house. I didn't have to do anything really. Just relax, put my feet up, and have dear friends. If you aren't ready to get out but you are feeling bored and lonely, I highly reccomend it! We watched "Grease", and sang along and laughed.
But I did venture out today to help grocery shop. I imagine I'll be taking it more easy tomorrow.

Good morning sisters

So I woke up today (day 9) feeling good...not much pain just a vague discomfort.
But the most important thing I learned from this forum is feeling ok is NOT being fully healed....so I have a good line up of movies waiting and my DH is at home today so will be spoilt!!!!
Hope everyone has a great day...... Hugs!!!!!!
