Advice needed desperatley!!!

TVH/Ovaries removed. I was taking premarin and felt horrible. Bloated, tired all the time, etc. I stopped it and started taking EstroSoy. Felt great. When I went to my Dr. for check up. She doesn't like to talk about NHRT. She increased my Premarin. I went back on it. In no time I was feeling horrible again. My hot flashes only come when I am taking the Premarin. I quit taking it and felt better again. I am so confused as to what I am doing to my body long term but I can't stand the sweats, bloating and tirednes I get with the premarin. Dr. had not done any blood work on me and seems to insist that Premarin is the only answer. What should I do?

Hi Becky,

I'm sorry I'm not going to be a whole lot of help to you on the issue of hormones.

You might want to visit the Hormone Jungle forum here, there are quite a few ladies there who know a whole lot more. One thing you might want to consider however, if you have a General practitioner or Primary Care physician you might also discuss other options with them. Possibly another type of HRT might agree with you more.

I wish you the best in your search for information and hope you'll be able to find something that works.

{{hugs}}

Hi,

My suggestion is to point blank insist on trying something else. If you not being listened to
you might just "DUMP" this doctor!

Premarin is NOT the only thing. The minute I got off premarin I tried Estrace (estradiol) ITs biodentical to what your ovaries made and it was great! I had my mind back and all them side effects left!
If you feel so good not on anything......I would ask for the smallest dose to start with. LIke the .o3 or .05 patch.

Another thought is to cont. without for a while , but take care of your bones. The Citracal plus with magnesium along with a multimineral vitamin is a GREAT thing to do for your body to keep osteo. from trying to set in. I've read in many places that a women without ovaries should be doing 1200 or 15oo (can't remember) mgs of calcium a day. BUt when you do calcium be sure it has magnesium oxide in it and at half of whatever the mg's of calcium your doing. ie....500mg Calcium/ 250 magnesium oxide ( This is already balanced in the Citracal plus and also in the Centrum Silver Vitamins)
I've heard that the Boron in the vitamins encourage endo. Not sure about that one yet.

Good sources of energy and estrogen is in baked sweet potatoes and soy milk. I'm learning foods now cuz my endo is back and I've had my estrace taken away from me. Its tough being pulled off of it when you were on it a while.

WEll.....good luck to you. Spend some time studying this site and check into the hormone jungle and learn lots of things! ha

God Bless you,
Ann7

Your not alone...

Dear Desparate,
I am a very new member to Hyster Sisters. I just posted a message to the board. My surgery was on August 7th (5 months now). It was total and my doctor also prescribed and HRT. Prior to my surgery my older sister and I researched all of the standdard HRT's. I choose estopipate (a plant based hrt.) But to no avail, I too experienced severe hot flashes while taking it. I am not a believer in hrt's. I am going the route of NHRT. I have been experiencing depressing (situaltional), brain fog, still having hot flashes, and some night sweats. But....In reading some of the email replys from others on this web site I know it will all be ok. It's just going to take time and there is one thing I am determined to do--survive. Your message is one I can identify with...so I encourage you to hang in there. Doctors don't know everything. I think it's ok to get a second opinion or at least INSIST on some blood work.
