Leg Weakness & Aches /Carpel Tunnel hands 3mos after until present day after surgery
I had a total hysterectomy 6/2010. A few months after my hands were going numb almost every morning and I had problem w/ my left shoulder/arm (still do). I NEVER had any muscle weakness/aches that lasted as long as this! Since then, I've been told (via EMG test) that I have mild/mod carpel in both hands. Numbness has subsided but still appears every so often. Now my issue is my leg aches. Just recently I've had major stiffness in hips/legs/feet after sitting a while. Been to several drs (neurologist/neurosurgeon, orthopedic, chirpractor, rheumatologist) with blood test for rheum. arthritis, etc. I feel like I have to shuffle instead of walk normally especially upon getting out of bed in am and after sitting for even a little bit. I have major muscle weakness in legs. I have to pull myself up after bending knees. (I'm 51). Last doc says it's just age!! I'm not on hormones. I don't know where to turn next (should I see a GYN). Was also suggested I get a nerve test done on legs. I've always been healthy BEFORE my hysterectomy over a yr ago and have been ailing since.

Re: Leg Weakness & Aches /Carpel Tunnel hands 3mos after until present day after surg
Hey, I've had similar issues since my surgery (dvh/bso) in Jan 2012. I've been diagnosed with carpal tunnel and a similar nerve problem in my leg. My leg problems aren't as severe as yours, but my leg does ache, becomes numb/tingly/pins & needles, and I have some minor weakness in the top of my foot. I'm 44 and using ERT (still not quite right, though). MY take on it, after zillions of tests (incl nerve study), dr visits, massage therapy, chiropractic, and most recently, PT (highly reccommend PT) is that YES, this is related to our surgeries and hormones. Really, it stands to reason that there will be some reaction from drastically altering a body system. Anyway, PT does seem to help me a good bit. We are working on a variety of stretches and exercises to help the nerves "glide" in the muscle tissue. I'm sorry that you are having to deal with all of this and hope that you will be able to find some relief soon. Sending hugs.

Oh, and my PT says some people are just more prone to these types of issues due to their anatomy.

Thanks.... It's just been so frustrating having all of these issues where I had none before! (AND I don't like being told it's due to age...arthritis, etc.!!) I did get a PT "prescription" so maybe that will help. I did read up on "Neurovascular lower extremity complications of the lithotomy position"...one doc said something like "you'd be surprised of the contorted position you are put in when in surgery"

Re: Leg Weakness & Aches /Carpel Tunnel hands 3mos after until present day after surg
Oh my God-you have just described me to a "t" over the last 2 yrs. since my surgery!! I have been to neurologist/rheumatologist and now at pain management (percocet/cymbalta/flexeril)basically keeping drugged to get thru day. I had all the same symptoms you described and in the end they diagnosed me with fibromyalga which to me just means they don't have any idea what is wrong. Now the good news is that 2 weeks ago I had my hormone levels drawn on the advice of a compounding pharmacist and low and behold they found I am scraping the bottom of the barrel with prog, estro, and testo. He got together with my dr. and he put together 3 bio-identical hormone replacers and I will be starting them tomorrow. I am praying that this is what the problem has been. It has been unbearable-don't move well, stiff all the time, pain all over. Very active prior to surgery-endurance racing (horses) working with wildlife (rehablilitator)-had to give all up-just can't seem to function I am only 48. I will let you know how this works
