Recovery Progress Reports for Hysterectomy dates May 07-May 13,2012

If your hysterectomy was between May 07-May 13,2012 this is the place to post your progress during your hysterectomy recovery.

If you have a question about your recovery, please start a new thread to receive answers and support for your concerns instead of including the question in your update! There is information on how to start a new thread in this link: New Here? or you can use this link: Post a New Topic in the Post-Op forum.

Post how you are doing here when you are home and well enough to sit a few minutes at your computer.

We hope you are recovering well with plenty of rest and water and a bit of walking. Don't forget to pamper the princess!

How to use the Recovery Progress Reports thread:

  • 1. This thread is for the purpose of sharing updates on your recovery as you heal from your hysterectomy.

  • 2. Generally, ONE or TWO posts on this thread per member/per day is adequate to share your daily progress and to share encouragement with your surgery week Sisters.

  • 3. Remember to start a new thread on the Post-Op message board to ask your questions.

  • 4. The Progress Report threads will be moved at approximately 8 weeks post-op to the Date Club forum inside the HysterSisters clubhouse.

  • 5. Remember all the love and support you got here as a pre-op member? Now it's YOUR turn to give back to the women in the Pre-Op Hysterectomy Support forum. Extend your hand and your hugs in replies to our pre-op ladies in waiting. This will complete our circle of women helping women!

  • 6. You can also share support and experiences with post-op members in all phases of recovery in the Post-Op Hysterectomy Support forum by replying on the new threads they create.

Re: Recovery Progress Reports for Hysterectomy dates May 07-May 13,2012

to your Recovery Thread, New Princesses!! You made it to the other side!!

This thread has been set up for you all to come here update us on how your initial recovery is going. Remember, initial recovery is 2 to 8 weeks, with full recovery taking up to a year!!

I will be here to help you out as your "Resource Assistant" and I will be joined by our Sunshine Sister, Meka40. We will be doing our best to answer any questions you may have, point you to different areas on the website, and just hand out hugs when you need them.

You will all have a lot of questions in the days coming up ahead. Many of you will be asking "is this normal?" Many will have questions about swelly belly Gas pains and bathroom issues
Many will notice some things happening with your emotions

These are all things that you will go through at some point in your recovery. But don't worry. Most of it is normal and everyone on this thread is going through it at the same time, together!

Remember, if you have questions about your recovery, you can start a new thread in the Post Op Forum to try to get some extra support from your sisters that are further along in their recovery.

A few things to remember.....

Drink Plenty of water
Walk around often
Don't try to be
This is your one chance to heal right the first time, so don't forget to pamper the
Get your rest!! You will need it.
Remember, this is not a race, recovery takes time so take it slow and you will do great!!! Just keep telling yourself that this is a marathon, not a sprint, so you need to pace yourself!!!

You will have pains and go through things you are not used to, but just remember...it is temporary. There is light at the end of the tunnel now and you are on your way to a better life!!!

Feel free to come here and with us about how you are doing in your recovery. This is a fun place to get to know those that are at the same place in this journey. It is also a great thread to help remind you that you are not alone!!

Again, welcome to the other side!!!!
Sending you all

Sisters!!

You have made it to the other side and it's now time to

As Traeleigh said, I have been assigned to your Recovery Thread as your Sunshine Sister. I am so excited to be able to support you through this journey! I will be checking in with you each day to help cheer you up and cheer you on as you progress through the weeks to come.

I made great friends with the sisters on my Recovery Thread and it was so refreshing to know that on a daily basis we could relate and be there for one another.

I also found it extremely helpful to get perspectives from sisters that were further along in their recovery or who could relate to my unique situations. The Post-Op Forum is one of the best places to ask any and every question! I also found tremendous support by visiting and posting on the Aching Hearts and Endometriosis Forum. Be sure to check out the alternative forums to see if any relate specifically to you.

Please listen to Traci's advice and take it slow the first few weeks of recovery! You may be on an emotional or you may feel like doing . Either way...take time to REST, REST, REST! Absolutely NO or and please always refer to your if you are concerned about anything during your recovery.

I made it! Had DaVinci at 1pm today, everything was taken. I have a lot of pressure and Low back pain. Just took 2 Percocet so waiting for that to kick in. My nurse has been great. I felt almost guilty when I asked for more pain Meds, one pill just wasn't enough. Hope everyone else that went to the castle today is ok .

Re: Recovery Progress Reports for Hysterectomy dates May 07-May 13,2012

Had surgery yesterday...laproscopic. They took the uterus and cervix as well as my gallbladder. Spent last night in the hospital and home now. I feel great except for the gas pain. Hoping that will pass in the next couple of days. Hope all the others are having easy recoveries.
