Re: Recovery Progress Reports for Hysterectomy dates May 07-May 13,2012
Just got home from the ball game, I only made it 6 innings..but it was nice to be out. (My daughter got us tickets for Mothers Day)
I think that is the longest I have continuously sat upright post surgery. We borrowed my aunts handicapped parking pass. (Why don't they issue those to us for 30days???)
By the time we left my right collarbone was screaming at me again.
You would think that would be done by now.
Laid down for the car ride home and now I just need to unwind for bedtime. TIRED but not necessarily sleepy.

Re: Recovery Progress Reports for Hysterectomy dates May 07-May 13,2012
Hello sisters,
Glad to hear everyone is doing pretty good and I am not the only one exhausted! Hubby works out of state and left one week post op, so best friend from high school came in the same day he left and was here fir 10 days. Today she went home too, so now I am feeling a little lonley. I do have my 18 yr old daughter and 8 yr old son here with me but not quite the same... just when I thought the water works were over... Still having to self cath and feel like I am not gaining much speed, but doc expects things to be back to normal by end of next week. Man I hope he is right, this has been the hardest part for me...

 riderunner,
I used to teach first grade and am not sure that I personally would have been able to get through a full day at three weeks. Did your say it would be okay to return to work? If so and you're up for it, just be careful...those little arms wrap closely around where you're still healing and you wouldn't want them to squeeze too hard when they're giving you hugs, or knock you over on yard duty or something like that.

Hi there,
I too take the Vivelle patch and my doctor told me that if my breasts were tender that it may be too strong and to keep track of my symptoms. I know that headaches and nausea can be side effects to the patch and you are also still early in your recovery, but you should definitely let your know how you're feeling and keep a journal of your symptoms.

BIG NEWS---this was in my email box this morning. Fredericks of Hollywood has FREE shipping with no minimum purchase this holiday weekend. Big clearance sale too.
(fredericks.com)
So for all of us celebrating the end of our granny cotton panties, it is a SIGN!
I think I will get a new nightgown too. They have some great 'old hollywood' style gowns.

Re: Recovery Progress Reports for Hysterectomy dates May 07-May 13,2012
Ride runner,
I teach as well...sixth graders. I admire you for going back so soon. I'm quite the wimp and sweet talked my dr into letting me stay out the remainder of the year. I will only be going back on that last teacher workday and then I'll have the rest of the summer. When do you finish up for summer? I am having the same issue with back pain as the rest of you. I suppose our lower backs really are compensating for our bellies right now. I'll be glad for that part to be over as lower back pain was one of my biggest complaints before my surgery. I did purchase a new fancy mattress during this time, but we have yet to begin using it because I'm waiting for my carpets to get cleaned first. I'll let ya know if the new mattress helps any. Otherwise, as long as I take it easy every day seems to be a little bit better. I hope all of you have a wonderful memorial day weekend with friends and family. Let us all take a moment this weekend to remember our service men and women who have paid the ultimate sacrifice for our country and those that are serving or have served our country who are still living.

Re: Recovery Progress Reports for Hysterectomy dates May 07-May 13,2012
The doctor told me to take 3 weeks off. I really expected to be out for 4-6 weeks. At my 1 week check up, I asked him if he really thought I would feel well enough to teach at 3 weeks. He thought I would, but did say he would give me more time if I needed it. I am seriously having my doubts. Trying to rest up this weekend and build up a little at the same time.....And of course, I am not expecting everything to be smooth sailing in the classroom after having a sub in there for 3 weeks. Any little thing can send first graders for a loop! I am seriously worried, but now everyone expects me to be going back, and I do feel PRETTY good, just get sore and tired very quickly. I'll just see how it goes the first couple days. My principal is pretty supportive and understanding of things like this. Our year ends June 22nd.
Have a nice weekend, everyone!

I don't think you are a wimp....I think you are probably making a very smart decision!!! Teaching is very physically, mentally, and emotionally demanding. Relax and know you are making a good choice! You will feel great by the time the next school year starts.

I see that many of you are starting to have back aches and probably some general stiffness.
Of course always consult with your if the pain is severe, but for most of you...walking will help a lot and here's a link for some safe exercises to try http://www.hystersisters.com/vb2/article_108934.htm
