Re: Recovery Progress Reports for Hysterectomy dates May 07-May 13,2012

Ah yes, 4th of July! It will be great since that is the week, my mom is coming to visit and the 4th is my son's 10th birthday. Excuse me grandma, but get the kids outta this house and don't come back for 2 hours! She can keep my car! My poor husband is so patient but I'm just as antsy to see of everything works properly. LOL

I had a terrible night of sleep...or lack thereof. Sitting here in the pedi chair fixing my awful looking feet and away from the kids for the first time in weeks! Maybe that will help. Added bonus, hubby is starting his RDO days so he's off till Sunday. My pelvic area where my c-section scar is located has been hurting. I think that is where my dr put the cuff and so that scar is rehealing on the inside. It feels very similar to when I was healing from fat baby's c-section. Yes we called my daughter "fat baby". She was a month early and was 8 pounds 8 ounces. Thank goodness I didn't carry to term.

Anyway, I hope everyone has a restful day and gets some pampering in!

Just because you cannot have 'sex' does not mean that the rest of your body is out of commission!
I know it is rough not have intercourse but there are so many other ways to satisfy both yourself and your partner.
Who knows, you just might find it enjoyable!! Gotta keep ALL the parts happy

Well, I have just returned from my 3-week post-op appointment. It was rather short. The doctor looked at my incision and completed an internal exam. He checked to make sure the internal stitches were dissolving properly. I was a bit surprised to have an internal exam this early. It was definitely more uncomfortable than usual, but all is well.

I return in 2 weeks. He hasn't released me to do anything, so all my restrictions are still the same. No driving. No sex. No work. And I don't mind!

For now, I'm scheduled to return to work on June 20, which is exactly 6 weeks post-op. I'll find out if that will happen at my appointment on June 13.

For now, I'm off to sleep. The appointment only lasted about 20 minutes. The ride there was about 15 minutes each way. That doesn't sound like much at all, but I'm exhausted!!!

Urology appointment went great!!! They had me go and though it takes a grw attempts to feel empty, I was able to have and empty bladder scan. Yay! Have a pretty good bladder infection which is normal when having to self cath, buy he gave me rx and said that should help increase flow as well as upping my other rx that helps the flow as well. Prognosis is great and only have to cath morning and night until I release less than a hundred cc's with cath. I can deal with that! 3 week post op appt tomorrow, moving truck arrived this morning, out of here on Friday. I think I will fly back for 6 week post op, just so I can have "my dr" check me, especially with all the issues. Happy day sisters!

Good afternoon, today was my post op 3 week appointment. I was very painful for me. My doctor tried to insert that speculum but it didn't work. Hurt to bad, she stopped and just did the exam with her hand. I truly was in pain. My sutures are still dissolving. I joked about being a virgin all over again...then I thought about it.....I guess I really am. After todays exam I don't think I want to have intercourse once I'm healed.

Re: Recovery Progress Reports for Hysterectomy dates May 07-May 13,2012

Hi Ladies, I hope everyone is doing well. I am three weeks post-op today having had my surgery on May 9th. I am feeling pretty good. I am feeling guilty because I am a dean in a middle school and we have a big school trip on Monday. I really want to go but I won't quite be four weeks post-op yet. I am scheduled to return back to school on the 11th (I live in NYC and we don't get out of school until the very end of June) but I miss my babies and want to go back now! I'm seriously debating on whether I should go back just for the day, what do you think? On another note, my doctor did not give me a follow up appt. I did see him a week after surgery so he could remove the staples but he told me to see my regular GYN in three months ( The doctor who performed my surgery is a GYN oncologist. He did my surgery because of where my fibroids were located. My regular GYN was concerned they could be cancerous-they weren't thank God). Should I make a follow up appt. sooner than three months. After reading about so many that have follow up appts. weeks after surgery I think I should.

Re: Recovery Progress Reports for Hysterectomy dates May 07-May 13,2012

Dersh, I'm very happy to hear your good news! It sounds like things are progressing in the right direction.

Tomorrow is 21 days since my surgery. What a 21 days it has been! At this point, I'm not in any major pain other than the occasional twinge, and some general soreness. But I feel like I can bend and lift (carefully and nothing too heavy) much more easily than even a week ago.

I saw my Dr at 1 week, and will see him again at 4 weeks, so that won't be until next week. But at the 1 week appt, when I asked him about sex, he sounded like he might clear me at 4 weeks. He didn't exactly say that, but its the impression I went away with. I guess I will have to wait and see. Poor hubby works in an office with some busty female employees who dress to enhance that particular physical trait, so I have had to help him out a couple of times. But I'm ready to get in on the fun myself. :-)

My fatigue comes and goes. Today I feel pretty good, but I overdid it yesterday, even though all I did was take the kids to an indoor bounce house place and sit and talk to some other Moms for a few hours. For some reason that wore me out.

Last night is the first time I have cooked an entire meal, and then cleaned up the entire mess afterwards all by myself. And today is the first time I've made a trip to the grocery store for a whole week's worth of groceries. Hubby was home for his lunch break so he unloaded everything for me once I got back home. I know both of those seem small compared to some of you, but for me they are big milestones...and mean that life is slowly getting back to normal.
