Ok, got a question about the 'swelly belly' everybody's been talking about.

I had actually been bloated prior to the surgery and afterI was so much smaller. Today my stomach is bloated so that I look pregnant!!

How big is normal?? No new pains, just swollen.

I've had the blues a little, I know it's just my hormones adjusting so I can deal.

Does anyone know how long the swollen belly and this rollercoaster will last?

patchwork,

Here's a link for Tummy-Swelly Belly Help . I hope that it may answer a couple of questions for you.

As far as the goes...in my experience it lasted right around 4 weeks. I started feeling much better at the 5 week point. That's not to say that I still don't have moments, but I'm better at controlling them now.

patchwork, I am genetically tall and thin. I would say my 3 week po belly is about 4-5 months (for me) pregnant. Where a stranger would wonder is she/isn't she. It's that point where you can't fit your normal clothes but you just can't mentally go maternity yet. (for the record I was HUGE come 8-9 months)
I have just one pair of my pre-surgery pants I can fit in right now.

Morning sisters! Yesterday was a looong day. Movers came and loaded our moving truck and I cought myself several times going to reach for something to help and stopped myself of course. I refuse to go backwards. Get this though, each of us in my family have a suitcase packed as we are staying with family for a few weeks before our house is ready and so I can feel that much better when it comes to moving into our new home. Guess who's suitcase was the ONLY one to get packed somewhere in the middle of a 32' semi?? Oh yes, mine with all of my comfy clothes!!! Of course I start bawling my eyes out, the movers came back and wrote me a check (and a decent sized one) to go shopping for new clothes. This of course would only happen to me and today it is humorous, yesterday I was ready to kill people.
I have been very active the last few days, but not lifting and when I get tired I lay down for a bit. I am feeling a little sore today and peeing a little better each day too! Hitting the road this afternoon to get my butt back to Colorado and my family. It's usually eight hours, I am counting on two days... speak to you soon my sisters!

Saw my Dr. this morning. He said he doesn't know why it's taken this long for my belly to arrive but that everything's ok. Guess i'm a late bloomer!

Thank Goodness for leggings and stretch pants!!!

Good luck Dersch!

Patch, I love the late bloomer comment.

I went back to my surgeon today. He knew I was coming, so he had time to call his lunch buddy the dermatologist. They both had 'no diagnosis' for my full body rash. (It really is funny to have two men in their late 60's looking you over and talking like old friends do to each other. )
I got an RX for prednisone. Will be back next week for another check. More benadryl and more sleep in my future.

So so so so so depressed.....can't stop the tears. Hubby has been gone all day working, now a golf lesson, then to look and give a quote on a job. Alone with the kids all day. Went to my son's kindergarten moving up.
Depressed, depressed , depressed
Any ideas how to get out of this funk?

So sorry you're depressed. Take the good with the bad I guess. Tuesday was horrible for me. I think I over did it on the holiday weekend. The good thing is by Wed I had bounced back. Hope you recovery quickly too.

Re: Recovery Progress Reports for Hysterectomy dates May 07-May 13,2012

Had surgery 5/9/12, abdominal full hysterectomy and staging for ovarian cancer. Returned to work three weeks later because I need the money, do not have the luxury of taking 6 weeks. And my job is client based, clients depend on seeing me. The first three weeks was a lot of three steps forward, one step back. As long as I rest whenever possible I am doing okay. Have to admit to a couple mild anxiety attacks in NYC subways last week, emotions were whacky. Everything seems settled down since passing the three week mark.
