Four weeks for me, too. I get weak and shaky is I 'm up on my feet too long. Went back to work last week, and it is exhausting. I keep getting new pains here and there. No extreme pain, though. I am taking less ibuprophen and tylenol than last week, even though I have more twinges of pain.

Dersh- Welcome "Home"! Great job- u made it! I wud imagine a lot of the tiredness ur feeling is, like u said- adrenaline let down from all the stress of moving AND that you are still recovering. Did u find some great new comfy clothes w the money from the movers? I hope u can find a comfy spot & rest some. Be sure you have some of the newly close family come help you get settled . I would say you should call a local ask a nurse line, or ask family for the names of a couple good GP docs & even urology & gyn. If u have names & numbers on hand maybe u wont need them.
Zoya- so happy to hear the steroid is helping the rash. I always get shaky & just weird feeling if I take them. WooHoo for making it until 6th inning of the game! I imagine the game didnt start right at the begining of the outung, so you stayed a long time. Awesome. Was it good to see people from work? Now be sure to kick your feet up & rest some.

Riderrunner- dont be afraid to take the tylenol or ibuprofen if you need it. Id imagine needing it a bit more right as you are increasing work hours would be pretty normal. Remember, if your body is busy coping with too much pain it cant work as hard on healing. Its still "early in the game" for all of us. So glad to hear you are back to work though.
To all our sisters that are back to work (for any amount of time)- You Go Girl!!! <3

Re: Recovery Progress Reports for Hysterectomy dates May 07-May 13,2012

good morning girls, have just been reading through the last couple of pages and wow some of you are brave driving already ! I am 3 1/2 weeks post op and my doc told me not to drive for a month at least - preferably six weeks (TAH though). Generally I am ok but sitting at my desk for a couple of hours at a time is a little too much, have to go and lay down (even sitting on the lounge is less restful than laying down). Went with hubby to do groceries yesterday and all I did was walk and point at stuff but mid-way through felt terrible. We finished up quickly and I spent the rest of the day laying and sitting and putting heat packs on my swollen/painful tum ! Then I got onto this site and see that its a product of overdoing it! I feel quite good today and have hung some towels out on washing line and pottered a little. I am amazed to see some of you gardening already - I am still having trouble bending to pick things up off the floor (slowly down slowly up). Amazed also to see some suffering the same little pains in the same spots as me (lower right pelvic area near pubic bone). Shows it must be part of the healing process I suppose.

I actually felt fine but when I started getting tired and sire, stopped for the night. Still having pee issues and can't go if I try to wait or my bladder gets too full, so I am still having to cath in the mornings and after naps. A little nervous because I have had a UTI then bladder infection and my last antibiotic is tonight. I sooo don't want to have to find a new doc right away, but will if needed. Today I have been exhausted, but I think it is just a let down of the last 4 busy days of movers, driving, etc.. it is so nice to be back "home" in Colorado and around much more family for support. Glad to hear we are all improving and hopefully we will continue on this path. This will be a memory soon (even the pee thing for me) soon.
dersh2004,

Congratulations on your successful move!!! You sure are a trouper...there is NO WAY in the world that I'd have been able to do that at the 3-4 week mark, but I suppose when there's a will there's a way! Time to relax and get back to pampering the

I wonder how doctors make their determinations for post-op activities. My doctor let me drive after two weeks. I am so glad he did, I was going out of my mind in the house. My husband was a gem, driving me around after working all day.

Re: Recovery Progress Reports for Hysterectomy dates May 07-May 13,2012

Hi Ladies!
It is so good to read everyone's activity levels, health status, and emotional states. Like many of you, I have had a few more activities lately. Last weekend we had two events for our adoption agency, low key but lots of walking and visiting. During the week I had to venture out for the first time with my two toddlers. Thankfully, they are able to climb in/out of their car seats with a little help. It is so hard not to lift them.

This weekend I took it easy. I have a few doctor visits for my boys, and I start back to work midweek too. I am nervous about my energy level. I feel very energetic one minute, and then the next I feel like someone slipped me a sleeping pill, I can barely hold my eyes open! It is so weird. Then I lay down to rest and I can't sleep! Insomnia, like so many of you are also dealing with. How can I be so tired and not be able to sleep?

Are any of you feeling different with your skin or hair? My hairs feels different lately. (I still have one ovary.) My skin does too, extra greasy. I wasn't sure if these things are recovery related or not.

Like so many other of you Ladies, I am also having soreness and pain inside. I hope it is the healing and the cuff getting better. I am also getting swelly belly, mostly in the evening. Fun stuff!

Thanks for sharing and you all continue to be in my prayers.

Re: Recovery Progress Reports for Hysterectomy dates May 07-May 13,2012

Ok, had to admit to doing something I really probably shouldnt have done. Had to rotate my full- size mattress & put clean sheets on tonight. Its an OLD mattress, so it gets "settled" way too quickly. I had a friend help me 2days before surgery, but I just HAD to at least rotate it tonight. Duh to me!!!! Im hoping it will help me get better sleep, but now Im laying here thinking abt how dumb that was. So, Sisters... In case anyone gets this wild idea in their own heads- FORGET ABOUT IT & wait til someone can help or better yet, do it for you!!! (Yes, in most normal sized & shaped rooms it might not be AS hard, but we rent a small home that was originally built as a summer only cottage. So, space is at a premium.)
Signed, Your Dumb Sister- Ace (things like this are exactly how I ended up with Ace as a nickname- as in "Ace Bandage" vs Ace = slick.)

Well I love the nickname, bit definitely no more changing your mattress again for a while. I still haven't been able to do that and I'm at 4 months post-op.

Ace-I'll I can say is
Dersch-so glad you made it safe and in good time.
Oz-yes, I still sometimes struggle to put on socks!

Hot flashes are getting worse. I did put it together and find when I say "BRRR I AM FREEZING" that 2 mins later I am melting. The kids teased me all day yesterday. "She dips, then she tips" "It goes low,and then she'll blow" etc...trust me, they found lots of rhymes.
MD said due to the degree of Adeno, he wanted to wait 2 months before we talked HRT. I also had 'ovarian atrophy" so we wondered just how much they were working to begin with (insomnia for 3 years, night sweats, etc)
Figuring out the cold before the heat is helpful. You can sit down, get water and be ready for it.
It was a HOT night and I felt I got little rest. I've been awake 30 mins and have already had 3 freezing heat waves. Oh mercy!

Re: Recovery Progress Reports for Hysterectomy dates May 07-May 13,2012

Could sworn I put a note in this last night. I have issue with pain still for Total LAVH. been taking motrin and percocet. Trying to get off of it. I still get a burning pain but its not as widespread like at the beginning, just one area and sharp pains off and on. Dr was hesitant to give me more. I even said try something else.

does anyone still have pains even though I am nearing 4th week mark? I dont know what else to do. Iwish this is something he can see or measure so he can realized what I am feeling. I was at church just moved my leg and got the burning pain. Crazy.
