Aleta, now that your saying that..yes my Dr did say it was soft and mushy. I see her on the 1st for a 2 week check up, so I will ask then. I didn't even think about it when i saw her.

Hi everyone, i am just home today after my TAH Wednesday a.m. No bowel movement yet for me either, and im nervous about when that will happen. Lots of gas pain, but I have not taken any painkillers since yesterday, as they have made me violently ill. I am taking it very easy. The pain is about what I expected...not horrific, and am happy to be rid of my massive fibroid filled uterus!

I been keeping on top of my pain with three 200 mg ibuprofen every four to six hours ... as the morphine in the hospital did NOT touch the pain really just made me sleepy. My sis gives me my loratabs in the morning. No BM's really here... though i did have a tiny one before i was discharged but then again Loratabs do cause constipation I think I am going to be takin anothe softner to get it moving so I can get rid of that don't have problems though do have swelly belly ... and just wearing loose dresses and skirts as i don't like anything on my belly

Hi, ladies. Have my surgery via daVinci on Wednesday, May 16. All in all it was not a bad experience. The doc took my prolapsed fibroid uterus and left the ovaries. Because of other health problems she did have me remain at the hospital as a 23 hour observance. I was up and walking by 9 pm(had surgery at 7:30 am) and had catherer out at 1 am May 17. I was a bit sore at the incision sites(four) one-two days post-op and make sure I was taking it easy. I felt a bit beat up after my spinal wore off around 25-27 hours post op but continued my oral pains meds but have not felt the need to take them today. I've been napping and taking it easy since I came home Thursday. My bladder was not fully cooperating in the early stages but I'm told that is normal. My biggest issue was constipation. I was passing gas by 25 hours after but nothing else. I was more uncomfortable by the constipation than the incisions. I increased my fiber with Metamucil, took a mild laxative and even added prune juice and finally things are moving! Today three days post-op I feel really good, which I was not expecting. I have to keep reminding myself that I had major surgery because I really don't feel like it. I'm not one of those who will be back to work in a week but if I continue to feel like this I can see why folks go back after two. Prior to surgery I thought that was ridiculous but based on my experience I can certainly understand it now. My plan, though, is to be off the six weeks my doctor and I discussed and will take that time to properly heal.

BOY it hurts like HELL.... with everything else going on in my life right now its hard to concentrate on me ....

I can remembered a sister saying that the shoulder pain came from the gas we are pumped with during surgery. I can't remember which sister though

The pain in hips is from the position you were placed in during surgery. Legs in stirrups, or spread-eagled for a long time is not particularly natural for us.
Aching will ease after a few days, I promise.

I have less overall pain than before the surgery except when my belly isn't binded. The adenomysosis was so bad that I couldn't even hug or kiss my boyfriend. It was really interfering with our relationship because if he accidentally grazed my belly or right side I'd scream in pain. We have a small kitchen and we bump each other often in there, today, he carefully approached me while I was at the kitchen counter and could gently hug me from behind with very little pain.

I could tell immediately after surgery that what has been bothering me in my right lower quadrant since 1987 was gone. I don't care if anything was wrong with it, I just know that the pain bugger is gone.

I am so pleased that you have felt a difference already.
Pain levels will improve, and the swelly belly will reduce over the next few months.

It must be lovely to be able to have a cuddle now that it is all over

REST IS BEST. Have a nap anytime you feel the need.
The chores can wait, or delegate them to someone else.

There are some Hysterectomy Checkpoints at the top of the page for general guidance on the Do's and Don't for each 2 week period of recovery.

I was lucky with having absolutely no pain post op, and hearing from you ladies makes me feel even luckier.
Things will get better dramatically over the next few weeks, provided you do the right things.
Remember that stitches, ligaments and nerve endings all need time, so give them that.

A little bit of blood seeping from your incision is probably nothing to worry about, as it also needs time to heal.
If it gets more than that, or looks like the incision is opening, then see your doctor.
