Hi ladies! I'm joining you on the other side now, too, after my TLH on Monday. I have to say that the whole experience was much easier than I could've anticipated. The hospital was great, the nurses were fantastic, and everyone was so helpful and nice. I got released just about 24 hours after my surgery...seemed that all went well. They couldn't do as much as they hoped laparascopically, so they had to push a lot out (hence some real soreness there.) But otherwise, all was good. I've been eating a lot and really hungry. Peeing a lot. Walking. Sleeping. And yes, drinking lots of water:-) DH is taking good care of me (along with my two kitties who slept at my feet last night). So, yeah, I'm home, bloaty, uncomfortable, a bit out of it, but not really in PAIN:-) I'm bound to get pretty bored quick, though. Hope you're all doing ok, too! Hugs to my fellow princesses.

Welcome to the other side! I'm glad to hear you're doing so well! My only issue now is that I have a low grade fever of 99.2. I'm wondering If I should be concerned.

Welcome to the other side Ladies! I`m glad to see that you are finding us ok.

Please remember that you are in the very early stages of your recovery. Initial healing takes 2-8 weeks with complete recovery 6-12 months. Do not push yourself. Don`t be a hero, take your pain meds if you need them. You will heal better if your body isn`t concentrating on pain.

Re: Recovery Progress Reports for Hysterectomy dates May 14-May 20,2012

Had a laparoscopic hysterectomy on Monday, yesterday was pretty rough, but today I haven't had to take very much pain medicine at all, mainly ibuprofen. I am surprised that I am not having any discharge or bleeding. Am I supposed to? I finally had a BM today, which I am thankful for, I was starting to get concerned about that. Pain mainly in the left side and swelling all over the belly. But, getting around pretty good and trying to make myself be still! I have a lot of help, so that hasn't been too hard. My belly button steri strip is soaked but the nurse said that was normal. It's not actively bleeding. Any advice on the swelling?

kristi,
The swelly belly is a huge issue for many of us. I went from having a flat tummy to looking 6 months pregnant post op.

Here is some info:
Swelly Belly

I suggest making friends with your belly, it will go away only when it's ready.

Hi!
I'm just heading off home, yay!! Had some major pain issues that are now resolved, I'm chomping so many pills- but that's ok.
The bloat is lovely, eh? I christened my gas baby 'Zephyr', but my partner said he doesn't want to be there for the birth lol. my nurses had me drinking a lot of peppermint tea, which seems to help.
I'm so glad that your progress has been so low on pain, keep it up!!!
Love and gentle hugs to all on this forum
Xx

I'm not really sure, but you might want to just call the nurse at your Dr.'s office to see what they have to say. That's pretty low grade and maybe drinking more water would help, but yeah, might want to just ask. It is something they say you should monitor. Hope it's nothing to worry about. Maybe the meds will help. Take care!

This is day 3 at home. LAVH was on 5/14. My pain level is very low. I have been on advil since coming home on Tuesday. I am having more pressure in the vaginal and rectal area. I have had a couple of small BMs but no pain. Is the pressure normal in the healing process?

Re: Recovery Progress Reports for Hysterectomy dates May 14-May 20,2012

Hi. My surgery was on Monday the 14th. There were complications with surgery and they ended up taking my right tube along with my uterus and cervix. They had to convert from vaginal to laparoscopic due to bleeding. I was not prepared for the laparoscopic part. I woke up in lots of pain and incisions that I was not prepared for. The day of surgery was horrible. I was in soo much pain and pretty much out of it for the day. The second day went okay. I was off Iv pain meds by the first night. I had to pass gas to be able to be released from hospital and that took quite a while. Finally left the hospital at 6 pm Tues. Wed at home was kinda bad. I had pains where I never thought I should have pains. Muscles were aching that I did not use. Still kinda difficult to get up and walk around for any length of time and I am short of breath. I am home with a 3 yo today and we are sitting on teh couch watching tv. Trying to just relax and take it easy as I have to go back to work Monday night. I have only had 1 dose of pain meds since midnight last night, so that is a plus!
