Bright red blood in quantities like that is always abnormal, so you did the right thing going straight to ER. My suggestion would be to call your dr and get your appointment pulled forward ... I'd say you need a more thorough check maybe than the one done in ER?
Much love, keep us posted xxxx
I had to go the ER for a simple UTI and the doctor insisted on seeing me in his office after that. I couldn't imagine that your doctor would want to see you.

Just a thought re. Internal exams. You can DECLINE, or ask for a different Dr, or maybe do some very gentle exploration yourself prior (bearing in mind the no stuff in the vagina for 6 weeks rule!) . For essential exams that may hurt, that you consent to, you can ask for entonox (nitrous oxide and oxygen), go sloooow, ask them to stop immediately on your request. Empowerment helps you to feel less 'done to'. Worth remembering whose body it is - I think drs forget sometimes

Beth,
I'm sorry you are having a hard time finding your way around. If you go to your user profile and edit options you can check to get email updates that will notify you every time some posts a new message on the thread you posted on.Then will give you a link in email that will take you right to the new post.Maybe that will help.
As for the bleeding. As mentioned before bright red blood is new blood. If it had been sitting for awhile should have been dark and clotty.I work for an ent and all of are pts are always told to follow up with us ASAP after an er visit after surgery if Dr is not called to the er.I'm not saying Er doctors are not qualified but Dr but in extra yrs of training to become specialized in there field,so I would recommend you call you gyno and let them know what happen as well as ask for a followup for piece of mind.Keep us updated.I'm glad you have had no additional bleeding.
(((Hugs)))

Re: Recovery Progress Reports for Hysterectomy dates May 14-May 20,2012

I have a personal question,
My doctor said after surgery I could resume normal activities after 1 wk as tolerated.I forgot to ask if that includes sex Here recently I have seen having feelings I have not had in a long time and from reading some earlier posts it seems this feelings may be short lived.I kept my cervix and I'm 17 days post op.So sisters, what do you think? Of coarse I know if any pain or discomfort to back off.

Beth, I think you have survived what would be ALL of our biggest fear. I'm so glad you got to the ER quickly. I hope that you're going to see the gyno and see if more repair is necessary.

Re: Recovery Progress Reports for Hysterectomy dates May 14-May 20,2012

Aleta, I was told 6 weeks with no sex and nothing in the vagina, but then I had my cervix removed AND had anterior and posterior repairs that mean I have a LOT of stitches in the vagina itself (YAY FRANKENVAJ!?), so your results are probably different. I would call the doctor's office and ask him.

In other news, my day at work today went well. It was nice to see co-workers and regular customers! Everyone was very nice and I didn't feel overworked at all. I am tired tonight, though.

My post op info included stuff for if you retain your cervix .. And it said 2 weeks off sex if you're comfortable. After that- whenever you feel up to it! A position where you have the power <smirk> would be good? I can't see why your feelings will change, but I'm guessing that the increased closeness will help your feelings of disconnection maybe?
I'm still traumatised from the bowels out of the vagina story - with all your additional problems I'm picking you're glad that can't happen to you!! Oh, and I read on another thread that some of our sisters try, um, how to put this, try themselves out for comfort with some non human assistance. That may be too obtuse. Rampant rabbit anyone!!!! Those of us with cervix removed have to wait a while before such jolly games lol!!!
I've got the giggles now xxxxxx
