First day feeling mostly normal. Still have trouble with insomnia but panic attacks are mostly under control so I think the HRT is working well enough. Not doing the hysterectomy shuffle anymore unless I overdo it. So looking forward to the next few weeks and can see light at the end of the tunnel at last!

Hope you have a glorious day!

Just wondering for those on HRT did your doctor check your hormone levels before you started? How do I know if I need anything....my menopause symptoms are there but tolerable. Just curious and any advice would be appreciated!

jljkcp, my doctor did not check my hormone levels but she will monitor my TSH because the HRT can affect that. I was put on Vagifem 10mcg to help the healing down there and was orginally started on a low dose Vivelle dot so I wouldn't slam into surgically induced menopause. By my 2 week post op I had begun experiencing insomnia and massive night sweats the night before the patch change so she increased the dosage of the vivelle dot and that helped with both but still have insomnia that I had not had before. I would like to stay on HRT if I can for the benefits of my bone health as well as sexual health. I asked my doctor about testing hormon levels and she said that they change so quickly for so many reasons that her norm was to treat symptoms and told me there was no reason to white knuckle my way through the symptoms.

Re: Recovery Progress Reports for Hysterectomy dates May 14-May 20,2012

Had a long and fun weekend at the ball field with my 8 yo's team. They played 2 games Saturday and 3 games Sunday. I slept through the second game on Saturday because I just could not stay awake. I did okay on Sunday, but my 2 yo and 6 yo were not very well behaved that day so I was more wore out. I am going back to the Dr today because my urine is still dark and cloudy and it hurts to go. Hopefully this is not another UTI. I can not afford to be hospitalized again!! The Dr gave me the okay to drive to the office today since I am only 5 mins away. Hopefully they will release me to go back to work tonight. Most of the pain i have been having is right at the belly button. Not sure what it is, going to ask today. I am kinda scared of driving as it has been almost 4 weeks since I have driven.

I'm starting to have the night sweats the night before changing the patch too. I was wondering why. Thx. I'll check on that with my doc.

So it's day 17 for me. This week seems tougher than week one. Just feel run down and achy and generally blah.
