Aleta, I did the same thing. Slept threw the night and didn't take pain meds either. Took one when I got up to potty, then slept long enough for the pills to kick in. My Dr told that along with the oxycodone, also take 600mg of Ibuprofen. I am not using the binder either. Can't see me ever using it.
No BM yet for me...just been getting the gas out and I'm happy with that for now.

Yeah he also gave me toradol 10 mg to take along with the oxycodone, but only 1 every 6 hrs.I don't see how anyone can handle the binder its really hurts my incisions, maybe after the heal some.My incisions are quite large Is say close to 4 to 5 inches and bruised.Gomecast,I'm just making sure didn't you tell me you had post ablasion syndrome? I thought it was you that told me that but can't remember for sure

Yes, I am the that person. I have pictures of my insides, was pretty cool to see it all. She sent it off to pathology, so I am very anxious to hear what they found inside the uterus. One pic showed several decent sized cysts on the top of the uterus. So glad its all out. I did get to keep my ovaries.

Ladies,
The belly binders are a personal choice. Some women are given them at the hospital, they are available at the HysterSister Store and also certain pharamacies. A lot of ladies love them and find them very helpful. I never would have been able to wear one myself. Even though I had a TVH, my tummy was so sore and sensitive I couldn`t handle even the loosest waistband around it.

As far as the gas and BM`s go, I found these to be lifesavers:
  • Gas X
  • Miralax
  • Activia yogurt
  • Benefiber
  • Moist bathroom wipes rather than toilet paper
Getting up often for short walks helps move the gas and stool through your body. Also eating healthy, high fibre food such as bran and prunes.

Hang in there, it gets better

Gomekast,
Did they tell you your uterus was soft and mushy? He still has not mentioned syndrome but said I was just one of the few that the ablasion made worse and did not react well with my body?He said my old doctor did nothing wrong during procedure but should have listened to me,said he could see why I was in pain after looking at my lump of mush that was once a uterus..lol..I guess the path report will say why it was mush though huh? Ex: post ablasion syndrome, adeno?

I also had an ablasion and tubal in 2010. I only started having pain after that surgery. After my hysterectomy Dr. said that he removed the clips from the tubal because scar tissue had formed. I'm not sure what exactly was causing my pain, the clip or fibroids (the fibroids were small). Maybe I'll get more info at my 2 week post op.

Re: Recovery Progress Reports for Hysterectomy dates May 14-May 20,2012

Hi ladies. I'm nearly 24 hours post op. my surgery went well. They were able to remove my uterus vaginally so no incision for me. Thank goodness!

I took a long time for my anesthetic to wear off. The nurses were getting worried but we got through it and today I feel pretty good. They took out my catheter and packing today and even brought me a coffee with my jello for breakfast!

I've been up to pee a couple times and am starting to feel gassy.

See you later or tomorrow. HOPE YOU'RE ALL FEELING GREAT AND RECOVERING WELL!
