Colonoscopy cancelled

I went i to have a colonoscopy foday and the nurse came in to tell me i couldnt have it cause i was pregnant... i had a total hyst 16 yrs ago... how is this possible and should i be concerned? I found this site after googling the cause for this.. it mention cancer.. i had a pap 6 months ago and it came back abnormal.. now i have fo have another pap next month to check if it is abnormal again. I also had a mmogram done and found out i have cysts in my right breast and have to have another mam next month to check on the progression.. i am worried.. any advice would help... thank you so much

Don't panic but do be concerned. Not because you are pregnant, you aren't, but because it was likely your HCG level that caused the nurse to think you were pregnant. Rather than indicating you are pregnant as the nurse assumed (routine pregnancy tests are done prior to colonoscopies and many other tests even if you tell them you are post hysterectomy), your levels are for an entirely different reason. Unfortunately, one reason could be a cancer concern which is why you don't want to brush off the results.

If you have not called your GP or OB/GYN, give one or both of them a call and explain what has just happened. One or both of them should have you schedule an appointment so you can begin some testing to see what is going.
